Cham had the summer of 06 on lock tho? The main reason is the way his second album was handled by Universal. Easily a better album than Sound of Revenge, but they rushed him.
He refused to play them games Universal Records was trying to run on him and got blackballed for it. Fortunately for him he was smart enough to make even more money investing.
One of the best out of Texas. I would love to meet him. He let us take a picture of him at the ALL STAR GAME. So humble. His songs still jam. My momma loves Riding Dirty.
@@noelr1010 i was looking for the interview Cham said interscope paid 400k for that song. and riding dirty was like 2k and got a grammy. but storch was on the top thats why interscope sent him with storch .
They wasn't outside when Cham and Mike Jones were beefing, so when Cham used the hook of his first single on a major to taunt Mike Jones with the everybody calling my phone line....shxt was so hard
Dey all standing dare waiting for the recognition of who they know who it is Rollin by a dirty rider and good brave Gang Starter driving member gang banging on his bottom sinners that try bamg on his home teams.
This song bring back memories used to hear it on the radio all the time while I was vacationing in Texas going to the flea markets Turing up with my cousin and my mom(rip). Good times
I had the honor to meet Chamillionaire in Kuwait at Camp Beuring where he was doing a USO show. He was very humble and very approachable. I joked with and told him he was taller than i thought and he just laughed. We talked for about an hour before i had to leave.
This album was a beast with success. The album itself, Sound of Revenge, went platinum and 2 of the 3 singles from it were massive. Turn it Up was the first single that was used to experiment and see if mainstream America would buy into Cham and it worked, this song went Gold. And the next joint, Ridin, is what made him the megastar to so many ppl, it sold 4mill. So this entire project sold over 5.5million units for him. But I guess it was also a case of he got too big too fast and he couldn’t keep the hits coming on a mainstream level.
@@slothenberry9691 The problem is the way Universal handled his second album. I got the chance to ask Cham what happened with the singles on Ultimate Victory on his Convoz app. He pretty much said that they rushed him with singles before the album was finished. Rockstar w Lil Wayne would have been bigger than Ridin Dirty. Lil Wayne was white hot at the time. Standing Ovation woulda been huge as well. But instead we got HipHop Police and Evening News. Two great songs but to deep cut to be commercial singles IMO.
I used to produce for a rap table and I would encourage the artist to swear as little as possible, try to find something to say besides MF every other phrase. They ended up writing better songs.
Whatever happened to Hip Hop music like this?! We need to go back to our roots and revive Hip Hop music the way it should be made. Whatever happened to our society and getting back to our roots?! Let's get back to the basics and FUCK all the other stuff. God bless 🙏
