Croatia is not on Balkan. Balkan mountain range is in Bulgaria and small part of Serbia. From what I saw it seems to me that you were somewhere on Velebit, which is part of Dinarides. I know that the whole world sees us as "balkans", but long story short - reasons are mostly political nature. And the name "Balkan Peninsula" is a result of old geographical mistake which was later used for political propaganda in our difficult to understand history. Anyway, welcome.
I did recognize the problem, and have a lot to say about it. But figured that it wouldn't help. I don't speak english that good to say everything that comes to my mind. I wanted to add that I am against killing animals, but... what's the point? We have our own hunters and sports hunt. Just google Samoborsko gorje and see recent events.
