Chamonix is SERIOUSLY one of the most beautiful Alp village ever!! I am lucky enought to live not very far away from it and I ve been going there since when I was a kid and ALWAYS LOVED IT SO MUCH!! it s a paradise!!!

Thank you Steve for the wonderful images and enthusiastic, well documented commentary. All you need to do is work a wee bit more on how to pronounce the word 'aiguille' 😄🤣 I was born and raised in Chamonix, where my Dad was a mountain guide. Now I live far, far away and my last visit to Chamonix was in 2008. I was very impressed then, at how the town had improved in every way, and how hospitable the locals had become. When I was a kid there in the 1960s it was a VERY different story. The natives had little respect for tourists back then, and often displayed rough and rude behavior. So in 2008 I was overjoyed to see that things CAN sometimes change in a good way ! The one very sad change I noticed in 2008, however, was the disastrous effect of global warming... the Mer de Glace has receded massively (by almost 3 km in length and 200 m in thickness), so has the once majestic Glacier des Bossons, while its 'twin', the Glacier de Taconnaz has totally disappeared. It was a shock 😥

Nice. Makes me want to visit. However, I certainly hope the footages were from pre covid times else with so many not wearing masks and in close proximity makes me totally wary and in no wonder of the infection rates reported.

Chamonix is a beautiful town in a beautiful part of France, but Mont Blanc is not the highest peak in Europe. Highest peak in Europe is Mount Elbrus in the Western Caucasus Range in Russia.

Actually incorrect, France's tallest peak, not Europe's. The tallest mountain in Europe is not Mt Blanc (4808 meters). - The tallest mountain in Europe is located in the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kabardino Balkaria. Mt Elbrus stands at 5,642 meters. The only reason people still think this in America is because of the constant Anti Russian Propaganda. But I guess no one cares about the facts - because it's an American made program for other Americans.

I use to live here in summer and took my parents up this lift it is very very expensive but it's truly grand! However my favorite was a very cheep option, a hike up the mountain in the close by Les Houches (10 minutes) it is one of my fondest memories in life, up there was a goat cheese farm and we would bring a baguette up the lift and hike to the cheese farm across the plain nestled between the mountains and have lunch there then hike back, it was one of my parents greatest memories of life too, truly spectacular in the summertime.

The well organized lift was a bit too crowed in my opinion. Having gotten over a variant of covid-19 only two weeks earlier I had also acquired an ugly case of influenza after taking this overly packed ride while vacationing there 4 months ago. As far as I know, people are still being packed inside the gondola (cable car) even after I've written to voice my feelings with the operators. The unreasonably long waiting time to be taken back down is yet another sad issue.

Wow! Chamonix ! I like a lot this place ! In Chamonix there is the Mont Blanc and especially the Drus! A mountain very cool ! At home i have a photo with my son and the Drus ! This is really cool photo for me ! Hello from Italy ! 👋😃👍👏👏👏😊🤗❤💕

@@Alessandro2302 I know ! But the Mont Blanc is italian at Courmayeur and French at Chamonix . For to go to Chamonix you need to pass from the gallery Traforo del Monte Bianco . I gone there different time because my husband is a alpine guide . By then the Mont Blanc is near to Courmayeur ( italian ) and after the gallery the Mont Blanc is near to Chamonix .
