Yoo..as a palauan, our history says that when the Spaniards found our island, there were native people that were already on the island...it also goes along to tell us that there were islanders from CNMI and other micronesian islands that were brought to the island as laborers by the japanese..so not sure if the story the man told is true or nah...it could be facts tho, but for now it might be an opinion.
I know very little about these Micronesian Islands. But it makes sense. You migrate to the biggest land mass and when theres war, you split. After many hundreds or thousands of years of isolation you will have a new culture. You say no. But when times are getting tuff in your land. You move to Guam or Hawaii. Its just survival.
Yes the Micronesians they all visited for trade and lived on Guam for a while. Guam was like a capital. When the Spanish arrived, the Caroline islanders continue to come in droves to trade for hooks and iron metals and some even got away with firearms.
I don't know where you get your story from...there is pohnpei history before Spanish came...so are you saying that the Spanish help the Pohnpeian build the Nan madol? Lol Nan Madol been there over hundred years before Spanish man come over...is true that we're related people but I don't believe when you said Spanish came and slip us...no I don't think you know what you saying..we are navigators we build canoes and sailing around in the Pacific ocean before Spanish people came.....pohnpei been in Pohnpeian been in on the island of pohnpei before Spanish man..if we split when Spanish man cam than we would speak chamorro. He is speaking of the Yap outer Islands, if you are from the main Island than you know nothing about this. Everyone knows the Yap outer Islands should be grouped with the Carolines not Yap proper.
Tattoos in Yap have different designs for difference of responsibility within a village or clan. "Yol" is a Yapese word that is still used today. Outer Islands of Yap have their own designs given thousands of years ago identifying their responsibility as part of Yap as given by their Suwei from the Village of Gagil on Yap main Island. No such thing was passed down by the people of Guam. How can you passed down something that you haven't seen or done before?
People thats speak carolina are outer island of yap and outer island of chuuk.. main of chuuk language its more closer to Carolina..Pohnpei also speak carolina..so i can claim pohnpei n chuuk and the rest of the small atoll are the orinal micronesian..
