Excellent video. Very informative. If you display the generator in another video, please show that the handle raises up to allow you to easily move the generator around. You mentioned the weight and wheels but the handle is almost hidden. Keep them coming Sir!!! 😊

Nice video.. I found out about the battery maintenance the hard way .. but found out you can still run Gas with a dead battery if you start it with propane let it run a min then turn off the propane and quickly switch it over to gas before it turns off and it will run on Gas.

Even though we only use the inverter on propane, I appreciate your putting this information out. I've been able to help a few folks with this model when they cannot get a start. Another issue is old gas and a gummed-up carb.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This spring, I went to start my Champion generator, but the battery was too weak to turn it over. It must have gone bad over the winter because it wouldn't take a charge. I figured, no big deal, I can just pull start it to get it going to exercise it for a few minutes. No go. If I shot a little starting fluid in the intake, it would start and run fine, but when I shut it down and tried to pull start it, again, it wouldn't start. I had accidentally left a little gas in the tank over winter, so I figured the gas had gone bad and gummed up the carburetor. I did a bunch of searches over the summer on the internet about why it would only start with starting fluid but not without. I was hoping to find a suggestion that would fix my problem without having to remove the carb. Unfortunately,, I kept getting the same answer - clean the carb. I bit the bullet and removed the carb (not fun) and cleaned all the jets. Reassembled it, and again nothing when I tried to pull start it. I was at a loss. So, I went back to the internet, and that is when I found your video. I got a bettery, and it started right up! I really like when people like you post solutions to these obscure problems. Champion should put a sticker on the battery door calling this out. Anyway, wish I had found your video sooner, but it still saved me a ton of internet time and a possible 2nd unnecessary cleaning of the carb. Thanks again!

The European version come with 12v power supply and charge port on generator body for battery charging. So you charge it from time to time and no problem at all.

Thank you very much sir, I learned something. I was looking around for some info on my new generator a Champion Duel fuel 4500/3500 when I came across your channel. I'll have to check the owner's manual to see if it says anything about what you mentioned in your video. I know it has a Lithium-ion Battery that you have to top off for 10 to 30 mins if you have it stored for 180 days. Thank you again sir and have a great day!

I learned that you have to run the unit from time to time for battery maintenance or remove it and put it on trickle charge. I like to run mine at least once a month. Thanks for the comment. Duane

Life saver, I spent some time pulling trying to get mine to start, not knowing when using gas, electric push button start only(not mention in the manual), brand new out the box today, I had to replace the battery.

Thank you!!! I tried charging the battery but it still didn't start. I used a Noco battery tender to try to jump start it but it didn't work - probably not enough amps. I bought a sealed AGM battery on Ebay and the generator started with no problems on the first attempt!

Thanks for the video. We have a generator that has been in the box for months. I guess we need to take it out and test it. BTW: Tell Belinda the HH in Elizabethtown NC (Lu Mil Vineyard) was amazing. Nicely done and I hope your video helps...now I just have to remember where I placed the lp connector hose... A week after my initial post above, I came upon where I had put my lp hose my hose. Connected to propane, and it started right up. Still will not run on gas though. Thank you again!

I used to have a Champion 4000-watt gas generator. I couldn't move it easily anymore (Disabled Veteran). So, I sold it and bought two 2500 dual fuel inverters and a parallel kit. they are so much easier to move

Nice video! Mine won't run on gas either. But the battery was charged and gas comes out the small tube at the bottom of the carb bowl. May be its bad gas? I only use prem non eth gas with stabilizer in it. HMMMM Thank you Sir for your video though cause I learned some important things!

Good video. I have the same generator and the battery is run down. I was able to get it to start by taking out the spark plug and spraying in starting fluid. It may be time for a new battery.

I just purchased my Champion generator today. Added my oil and fresh gas. Pushed the two battery leads together and Hit the electric ⚡️ start and nothing happened 😢 after several attempts. So I went to the manually pull start and it started on the very first pull. So perhaps my issue is the battery 🪫 as well? I am running mine as we speak for the break in period. After that’s over I will pull the battery 🪫 and test it?

Guys, this generator comes with a wall wort style charger that plugs in on the yellow control panel. If you don't run it often, at least charge it periodically. That being said, I left my camper at my brother's house for about 8 months. Went camping with full hookups (didn't run gen) then drove the trailer home in 114° heat. Pulled over for dinner and wanted to run the AC. Well, electric start pooped out. Tried to use the pull start and it wouldn't work (just as you described). I have a full set of batteries in the RV and a 2000W inverter. I also have an AC powered battery charger so I ran it for a while off the inverter to charge the generator battery. Never got it charged well enough to start the generator with electric start. After almost giving up I tried the pull start again and it fired up. (Must have charged the battery enough to open the solenoid). Had no idea what was going on so I searched and found this video. This is a major design flaw. The only time you will use the pull start is if the battery is dead. Then it won't start because the gas solenoid is electric. (Pure "genius" engineering:). There should be a manual valve that can be user actuated in the event of a battery failure. I was sweating my arse off in the heat pulling that cord. Other than this crappy design flaw, this thing has worked great for 5 years. (Usual life of lead acid batteries.) Good to know propane works with the pull start and dead battery. (My propane tanks were located too far away to conveniently use.) Thanks for posting so I know what was going on and the propane work around. Subscribed!

Amazon has some great small regulated solar panels that are not much bigger than the top of a shoe box that will keep your battery charged. I have two on my two generators.

Somewhat similar problem. Three years old Champion I’ve never used. Checked the battery and it was around 9V. Put a charger on it and it’s now holding 12.5V. When I try to start it (on propane) the battery light is glowing but when you hit start, nothing happens. Will start with the rope but I need the electric starter to work. Is it possible the battery is bad even though it shows 12V?

Put a jumper battery on the dead battery and the starter started cranking still won’t start but it will on propane and I squirted some starting fluid on it and it started for a second so I don’t know what is going on?

Yes, the mechanism that controls the gas has to have power. Propane does not need that. You just have to pull start the unit.

Champion generator does not have quality control. Recoil unit is terrible on 2500w dual fuel inverter and it does not start even after replacing it. It has been problem from the day one
