I had this problem and took the big gasket out. It had many bubbles on it on both sides. I couldn't find a pin or needle so I used a pocket knife and popped the bubbles on both sides, making sure I did not cut on any edge. I put it back in and it is not leaking anymore. I will watch it closely. If it leaks again I will put a new gasket in. But, if someone wants to stop the leaking, even for a brief moment, this works.

I installed the look-a-like gasket today. Can hardly tell the difference in the two pieces. If it lasts as long as the original (one year) then that good with me. And now I have a spare for the other toilet that should start having the same problem pretty soon.

The American Standard gaskets last me less than a year...and we don't use an cleaners in the tank. Switching to a Toto toilet in the near future.

What friggin scam this toilet is. Just bought brand new champion 4 toilet and leaked from get go. Why isn't this a class action case. Ridiculous

I bought the amazon parts off your link and replaced both gaskets and it still leaked. I took it back apart and made sure the parts lined up correctly and turned the screw to the second detent and it appears that I fixed it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it holds.

I'm having that problem. I have had Champion 4 toilets for 15 years and have 4 in my house. So I have had to replace these several times and it has always immediately fixed my leaking. But yesterday was the first time I have replaced one and it is still leaking. Also the gasket I removed looked perfect as well (no bubbles). I have turned to the second detent before and broken that part, so I am a big apprehensive about doing that. But I think I may try it.

Yeah, it's just like Toyota recommending you only buy genuine Toyota replacement parts. They're just trying to keep you spending your money with them. It's just a gasket. American standard isn't the only company capable of making a gasket. Obviously American Standard's gasket isn't that great if it requires replacing so often.

Sometimes aftermarket parts are good, but from all reports this is a case where the aftermarket parts are substandard and only last a fraction of the time the OEM parts last, so the aftermarket parts end up costing you more than the factory part.
