"Don't play like me" I'm sorry GingerGM, but that's far too late. Every game is either me going down in flames of glory or blowing up my opponent in style.
Another great video GingerGM. Believe it or not, watching teachers and titled players get frustrated by their decisions really helps us mere mortals. I NEVER have enough pieces either!! Your lessons are fantastic - even this one!! 👍
Your "dodgy", speculative play is why we love you Simon. You're part of that great tradition of Nezhmetdinov, Viktor Kupreichik, Emory Tate, Julian Hodgson. Even a century ago, Rudolf Spielmann ("the last Knight of the King's Gambit", as he was known in another time when "scientific" chess principles were the rule of the day), said in his manual The Art of Sacrifice: "We honor Capablanca, but our hearts beat higher when Morphy's name is mentioned." One Simon Williams is worth more than 100 Mickey Adams, 100 Vladimir Kramniks, 100 Boris Gelfands. My level, "amateur chess", is in my not-so-humble opinion, the most fun, and that's where you are the best inspiration.
19:30 i found Ne3 threatening two queen moves both leading to unstoppable forced mates (other one is taking the pawn) and it's strange why simon didn't see it even though he ran through it making me doubt and question: what did i miss?
