Just watched this movie and I literally cried like never before... whenever vani was insulted I can't say in words how much pain I felt... seriously ppl should stop bullying others no matter what, you never know what they are going through in life.

Hats off to the team of this movie to take such topic on screen to understand the unsaid pain which is hiding under our Indian society and even making sure nobody's sentiments are hurt in the process. Just watched the film on a Netflix and must say everyone must watch this . Very natural acting by Ayushman and Vani , excellent direction and geneinely a good movie out of Bollywood after a looooooooong time , although nothing beats the original title track Chandrigar karay aashhqui over 15 years old , they should have atleast kept the original beat of that song !

As much as it's great that stories from the LGBTQ community are being explored in our film industry nowadays is great , I really do hope that the Indian film industry open it's mind to casting actual trans women and men in these roles . Coz casting a straight cis actress in the role of a trans women doesn't push the message. It's just a cop out . Vaani kapoor is great in the role but it should've been a deserving trans actress . I truly hope that this is just the beginning be things do evolve for the better .

I'm a Transman, I browsed through my Netflix yesterday & saw this movie as top recommended🧐🚙 I normally I don't watch mainstream Bollywood much cause the narratives are not realistic or relatable to me, as someone who went through society's/ world's challenges & struggles - a simple human like me who is not a "mainstream character" was not seen or casted as heroes in movies. I'm glad I watched the movie 😻🥳 I didn't know this movie was inclusive of trans people - about a journey transwoman in particular portrayed beautifully by Vaani Kapoor 🏆about a strength of a Woman & her identity which she lives by. Ayushmann Khurana 🏆 did a great job of first portraying how naive the perception of society in general about Trans folks & then changing the narrative by taking steps to create change - first in his life then by showing how masculinity is about protecting others & standing up for those we care about & speaking out against bullies - he did that by first standing up to bullies in his own life - his family. Then He moved on to championing his inner bully (spoiler alert) this movie was enlightening for me to see as a start how bollywood is slowly moving ahead.. incorporate more relatable content especially ones who normalize Trans folks & yes everyone under the LGBTQ / Cis etc. all under one Umbrella - after all we are all just human, I genuinely hope someday we don't even carry these acronyms, and simply live as human beings carrying our unique identities & experiences. I just came across this movie on Netflix by accident, had never heard of it before and therefore did not have any expectation about it. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. There were flaws in the movie (e.g. Manu's rather abrupt change in mind and heart, the entire psychiatric hospital scene, etc.). But all in all, there were some really interesting characters in the movie, and the actors were all awesome. I am not a regular watcher of Bollywood movies, so I had no idea who Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaanii Kapoor are. But both of these two extremely attractive lead actors were AMAZING in the movie, and so were the supporting actors. The subject being explored in this movie is daring not just in conservative India, but everywhere around the world. So really bravo for such a bold attempt. In short, GREAT movie. Five stars for sure.
