Thank you Rohan. This is a very old song. One of the oldest sinhala songs. So many of us love this song.

This was one of the songs in "rekhava" film by Lester James Pieris and the music composition for all 4 songs in that movie was by Maestro Sunil Santha....That was the only Sinhala movie selected for screening at the prestigeous Cannes Film Festival and these beautiful melodies must have had some contribution to it.

Thank you for your concern Daya. I am fully aware this song is from the film "Rekawa" in 1955. I have never mentioned anywhere it's a 70's song. The details of the video only says a cover version of this song being performed at a show titled "Golden Oldies of the 70's Live Concert" held in 2016. It was sung by Sameera Senarathne son of composer late Mr. Sisira Senarathne.

Not a criticism :) I actrually like younger generation appreciate Maestro Sunil Santha, undoubtedly the best singer-musician in Sri Lanka ( it is not a sentimental statement - I have done a detailed qualitative analysis with nmormalised data across 10 attributes to come to this conclusion )... I hope SL media will take off the "untold ban" on Sunil Santha songs and his name and let younger generation hear and appreciate the workd of this genius, whose music career was limited to just 8 years by a group of conspirators in 1952 !

@@ChandimalFernandoMusic Well, I think you have social capital and knowledge to speak the truth. What has happenned ( done ) to Sunil Santha to limit his music career to just 8 years is no longer a secret and names of those who did it is also public - speaking up will be a good education. Most importantly, what has happennded via Ratanjanker Conspiracy in 1952 had left a major dent in the public psyche of Sri Lankans and its cascading impacts have done muich harm to Sri Lanka eversince ( we all lament why Sri Lanka has gone downhill socially, politically, economuically since 1950s, don't we ? ) and a proper retrospective and correction of errors is a must for Sri Lanka to have a better future. Public figures such as you can play a role there ! :)

@@martinwaduge4279 Hmmm...Ironic since Amaradeva ( who was a strudent of Maestro Sunil Santha and owed his existence due to Sunil Santha's genereous intevention so many times ) was one of the persons who were instrumental in knowingly or unknowingly aiding and abetting the efforts to keep Sunil Santha out of Radio Ceylon/SLBC and erase his legacy and limiting Sunil's entire music career to only 8 years !
