And what could be better than bringing this joy to your kitchen through Lucknow's special Chana Dal Halwa. Embedded in history, halwa defines the culinary experience of the city significantly. This is the unison of soul of the city.
Let's dive into this delicious temptation & satisfy our taste buds!
Ingredients:
Chane ki dal ~ 1 Kg
Milk ~ 1 ltr
Desi Ghee ~ 1/2 Kg
Kaju ~ 50 grams
Badam ~ 50 g
Chiraunji ~ 50 g
Sugar ~ 1 kg
Cinnamon ~ 50 g
Method/ Recipe:
1. Wash and rinse Dal properly, Soak it in overnight
2. Drain the water and boil the soaked dal in milk for around 20-25 minutes till it becomes semi cooked
3. Grind it well on sil batta or a mixer grinder
4. Roast the ground dal in kadai till it becomes semi brown
5. Prepare a sugar syrup by adding sugar and water and boil it till it starts melting
6. Add the halva in sugar syrup and cook it till the halva absorbs all the sugar and become semi solid
6. Spread & paint the platter with ghee, put the halva on the platter and pat so that it settles down, add silver foil (Chandi ka warq) & garnish with dry fruits. It can be then cut it into triangular pieces & relished!
