Bravo! Bravo Chanel! What a creative, genious idea to have the show in Havana. I loved every minute of it. Every piece was beautiful, especially the dresses in the beginning. Yes the theme was vintage Cuba from 30's 40's and it would have been great to see modern Cuba interpreted but still so well done.
Well played ?? Well played ?????? So you are clearly implying and agreeing he has used non europeans for marketing and as kitch for this collection. He has woefully allowed the majority of his models to be clearly european and now he gets props for bothering to slightly digress from that in what...2016? Karl and his followers are antiquated in their thinking fashion forward notwithstanding
THE BEST SHOW OF THE SEASON!!! Truly, there really is no other brand ahead of Chanel in the industry!! Well Done Chanel, Well Done Karl!!! You have set a beautiful example!!
Wow! It's the happiest and freshest collection I've seen frim Chanel in a long time. Whatever Karl Lagerfeld is taking to get that amount of energy must be served in a double dose to me. Loved men's pieces, and tweed matching denim and tees worked perfectly. A diverse and exqusite cast was the cherry on top of the cake. Fantastic!
No dejo y tampoco paro de verme este desfile y es chic fabuloso es genial 😘 la músico todo me encantó eres unico hermosoooo divino te admiro muchísimo 😘 😘 😘
Wow! Love the clothes, love the two young ladies who opened the show, that orchestra and conductor were slammin'!!! The location is wonderful. I would love to go there and see everything!!!!!
The music, oh the music put me in such a good mood. Fantastic! As this show is in Cuba, Chanel had to have a lot of black models, after all' you're in Cuba. In the Far East. more Asian models etc. etc. And the collection changes to show which country the show is in...Cuba, Fedoras, cigars and lots of colours. You need to captivate your audience. Karl, why don't you invite a few of your RU-vid subscribers to your next show. You know we would appreciate it x
✨🎉Instant capsule collection👌🏽💥! Some thing you buy and have for ever ! This so fun can color full not to mention the Its cultural contribution ! I was so happy with the choice of models so diverse and multicultural, Karl and the team did such a good job not appropriating Cuba rather they did a outstanding job blending it with Chanel in a respectable and beautiful way. It looks so effort less and natural, must have been hard to pull off..
OMG !! I do love the end ot the defilee... Every model sings and dances with the musicians... Viva Cuba libre... Chanel would have loved this in her youthful. Gabrielle sang in parisian cabarets before being Coco...
Savy decision of Chanel doing the Cruise collection in Cuba and inspired by Cuba! Most of the clothes are beautiful, some are basic and amateurish, the backdrop is beautiful yet it made feel pity for the people of Cuba and what they've been livinf for the past half century! The music was on point and I wanna know is those singers are local or of Cuban decent! And the kid!! That little kid stole the whole show! His face was like "be serious, you're a Chanel model now" but he almost couldnt contain himself hahahaha 7.5/10 I give this collection and show!
Uma coleção que posso dividir em três partes peças despojadas : peças casuais e peças LUXUOZOS uma coleção com composições de peças harmónicas lindas: digna de um ícone da alta costura mundial
i wouldn't say this was good, its a very first level interpretation/appropriation of cuba, the clothes and color you can see are very much student level and uninspiring, its a great concept but the runway ended becoming in a mess in a public setting, overall chanel has done better in the past
Unlike the show Chanel sent to South Korea, I love this one. The designers , obviously did their research and had some knowledge about the kinds of clothes the people wore. Go back to South Korea with clothes for a new generation of extremely hip hop and pop culture. Let the locals do the make-up so the models wont look like clowns like you did the last time I saw you there.
Love the video I have a channel that speaks to Cuban and Cuban Americans and would love to collaborate in any type away to bring your experience to the community.
I hope this means Chanel will be made affordable to Cubans. If not, then I think the whole thing is just a consumerist tactic to commodify Cuban culture rather than actually take an active role in the preservation, and evolution of Cuban culture and help the Cuban population. Clothes are beautiful, obviously. Show wonderful, obviously. We get it, rich people are rich and they love to flaunt it wherever they can.
I get what u mean, but why make Chanel affordable to only Cubans? The show was done for publicity, for advertising on the more-open Cuba. It wasn't done to cater to the Cuban market. Chanel's brand will not change just for one specific people. It's still a business.
+Shepherd Tiatia the stree looks like good because they prepared for the event, and they sent 3 blocks away to the cubans and they imposed to the neighbors not to be on windows. rest of Cuba looks like an old fashion New York-Madrid after 60 years of bomb attacks, a disaster and by the way a very sad country-city.
+leonardo goez ramirez yes I get your point, but please get mine: I´m fom Cuba and I´m living in Cuba. For me , yes indeed, is like I´m starving and they show me a full plate I can not have, is truth but (a big BUT) is also the way we have to connect with all the things that seem to happen in other world. For you is just something more but not for me. For example, I never could even imagine that Bey would be here, Riri, The Rolling Stones, and now Chanel...and I want you to notice that I´m not talking about political personalities here, even knowing that culture is ideology and, at last, is politic.
No offense, but did anyone notice that the city was almost empty, and there were no lights on anywhere except the runway? I'm assuming Karl didn't use local talent. If he did, good for him. If he didn't, he should have.
Asian/black and OMG Latina models ... Wow this was the most inclusive show I seen from any designer in a long long time.. I hope this is not just a one time thing...
For all you saying this was tasteless and sorry for Cuba and why here they can't even afford chanel Blah blah. Just shut your mouth! Now! Shut it!! This was a historical event! Im not Cuban and I can share the excitement of these! The fact that people are now getting to see Cuba and seeing their beauty and Cubans can now see what the rest of the world sees and people can now visit, it's fantastic!!! It will take time yes, but you gotta look it from a different point of view. This is the beginning of a new Cuba. One day may I hope that the first chanel boutique will open in Cuba, this will signify that money is now flowing in the Country, and that those Cubans who work hard everyday and give it their all, will be the future generation of up and coming wealthy Cubans. You want a maserati? You better work! We as humans all started from the same level, those who work hard move up in life and those who didn't just got stuck behind.
your view on life is laughably ignorant. your view on cuba is pitifully ignorant. that being said, you could refrain from stating your views on things you know nothing about.
It does not matter how hard you work, in Cuba there is no future. The country is bankrupt, and not because of the embargo, but because the system does not work, another example, Venezuela. Hopefully, in years to come when the newer generations take charge and the old vanguard is dead and gone, there might be change. But for now, for the next 20-30 years, things will not change much. o As of now, on the contrary, the government is fighting tooth and nail to control the possibility of any change.
Can someone explain to me why a Chanel fashion show has to take place in a country where all the locals can not even remotely afford to buy a single piece of Chanel, even if they want to. I know the country is opening up, but a Chanel runway in Havanna, sorry but this is tasteless.
I like the fact that Chanel is showing Cuba as a more open and free place but at the same time I fear for Cuba because they are going to be exploited just like everyone else where poor get poorer and rich only a select few. Exactly what Fidel was worried about
+slotheager It's not like an average french person can buy Chanel either, yet they show 4 times a year in Paris, sooooo your point may be right but your arguments aren't.
Chanel shows are held in Paris, not all Parisians can afford chanel. Im tryin to understand your point but it Just doesn't comply here. The fact that Cuba is finally opening up its a huge step for upcoming financial step up. We as humans all started at the same level, those who are smart and are willing to move up work hard and are where they are.
My dear friend, In Cuba there is no way of being poorer, they are already dead poor, only the elite, those who are big bosses in the government have anything to begin with. Why do think so may of them are risking their lives crossing open waters to come to the US? Do you think it is because they just want to vacation in the states?

+leonardo goez ramirez fashion responds to historic events, social and political happenings. That's what this collection is. Lagerfeld didn't just pick Cuba as an inspiration randomly. He picked it because of the new relations between the US and Cuba. It's a historical event and it was bound to be an inspiration fashionwise. Just like so many events. It's how things happen. Fashion is not an island it's a response. There's no disrespect is taking a culture as an inspiration and create fashion with it. It's not shaming anyone, quite the opposite, it's celebrating cuban culture, it's people, it's spirit.
+Andreia Pereira the average state income in Cuba is $20 USD a month. Why even go and promote a dress that's $2,000 dollars. It may be an inspiration but that's a slap to the face to the Cuban people.
