Wow Catherine, this was great! The first time I have seen someone alter the big shoulder pad look, and I would never have thought to cut off the top of the sleeve! And making the arm eye smaller by lifting the whole jacket is really cool. So often the huge arm’s eye just ruins the whole fit. Congratulations!🎊🍾🎈

This is the corret way to retailor a jacket, not cut the lenght. That way the wrist is elegant, especially for petite bodies, the width wrist is sooo important.

Totally awesome !! Love how the jacket turned out. What a great idea to use the sharpie. It sure would have scared me a lot to do something like that. Sometimes I do not get things like that done because I procrastinate to much. Love your approach of just doing it.

Watching you remake your awesome finds brings back memories! I was a seamstress (as my home business) for almost 30 years! I would say 80% was alterations, which I came to love! Sometimes a little stressful since it was someone else’s clothing. I’m almost 67 and have slowed down quite a bit, sewing now for myself and family. I LOVE TO SEW!!!

Oh, my, the sharpie effect is so gorgeous. I remade my father's old dinner suit. It was in a beautiful silky sort of fabric, with satiny lapels. A bit 1930ish. I unpicked it completely and pressed it. It had a lot of interlining, which I discarded. This does not go well with a woman's body. I than used my favourite pattern for slacks and thst turneed out great. I used a Vogue pattern for a jacket and although it was a little fiddly around the lapels, it did turn out beautifully. I wore it on several occassions and it was often admired. I am sure you will make your daughter a very special suit to begin her business career in.

Wonderful, but IMO, 3/4 length sleeves are always immediately aging. I always opt for a long sleeve if I can get it. Also, while I regularly sew several times a week, I gotta say I have a total love/hate relationship to it! It never ceases to amaze me that sewing can be so tedious while simultaneously so anxiety producing! Don't get me wrong, I love the results, but, sheesh! The process! Does anyone else experience this?

Wow! Lovely results! I wanna do something like that soon. I have to find the right piece to work on. The Sharpie was genious! But I loved it so much that I would spend a little more time embroidering the little black dots. Thank you so much for sharing!!! ❤️

Thank you! Shortening a sleeve from the top seems intimidating, but it's actually not that bad!
