Fantastique! I still have my 1991 EDT Pour Monsieur Concentree which was one my first signature scents back in grad school. Wonderful memories of elegant evenings dressed up for drinks with colleagues at the Ritz Carlton in Boston (we couldn't afford the dinner prior) wearing this. How its warmth resonated in a cocoon of luxurious comfort, insulating from the crisp cold of New England winter! Such a fantastic, timeless work of olfactory art. My original bottle has held up surprisingly well, but has definitely lost something so I currently have a new, sealed in box vintage bottle on the way. Also found a new bottle of the predecessor "Gentlemen's Cologne" which is also coming my way for a comparison to the modern Pour Monsieur EDT. Cheers and thanks again for all the great reviews.
Thank you! I was looking forward to this one since your review of the edt. Excellent review of an excellent fragrance. I wear several perfumes but I guess this one is my signature scent by now.
Recently purchased the EDP and what a fantastic blend of impeccable quality. Love the house and the pride they take with their creations, just exudes class. A pleasure to wear the whole day through. Enjoyed. 👍
Another great Scent Land review. But PLEASE... can we expect a full review of the classic German Tabac Original (often referred to a Chanel No. 5 for Men) sometime soon? As a German original yourself you could present us with a creative and authoritative video. Also los!
I remember I've tried this maybe a year or two ago ,and I remember that I liked it a lot.More than original, which I own,and this one is definitely more modern,as I recall.I have to sniff this again in the store..
Hi Chris, I love PM EDT and EDP! You are absolutely right, the old EDT Concentre version is exactly the same as the EDP, it was just re-named like all CHANEL EDT Concentres (e.g. Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme EDT Concentre is now AHS EE EDP). Back in the days, the perfume houses simply thought that a men‘s perfume wich is named „Perfume“ is not being accepted as much and called them (technically incorrect) „Concentre“, „Haute Concentration“ etc. Take care, best regards, Dan.
Chris, great to see you review this one, interesting to hear your thoughts on it. Unfortunately for me EDP simply refuses to work properly off my skin. For me after that amazing opening it always gives way to a strong animallic accord (don’t know what causes it). Also I find sits really close on my skin, a darn shame if you ask me. Envy all those who are able to rock this one! Oh well you can’t have it all!
@ Cowboy Crunchies me too it's the same thing, the opening is amazing but it doesn't last and became a very light skin scent,I will finish this bottle and I won't repeat
Chanel has a great catalogue. Think of all of the fragrance brands that have their best fragrances come and go, but with Chanel all of their stuff sticks around because it still sells even of it's 40 or more years old, and they never have to give discounts. When a department store has a sale on everything, Chanel usually is excluded 90% of the time. They don't need any gimmicks either, their bottles are always really minimally designed with the same typeface on all of them, very simple and no frills. Their stuff is always good quality too.
Got mine yesterday. #SOTD today. Thanks. But, I think the top of the bottle and cap, except the sprayer, is cheap and thin plastic. But, if that's what it takes to keep the price @ $100, I'm good. 👌
The Scents of Me - The original ‘Pour Monsieur’ edt (1955) is a masterpiece; by comparison, this one - in either the ‘concentrée’ or the edp - IS a bad joke.
@@scentland4753 I've got the concentree, it's a little bit *more* than the edp. The lavender is 3d and its the cardamom that pulls the whole thing together. base is a vanilla/oakmoss dream
This must be discontinued, its so hard to find the EDP version for sale which was only released 5 years ago... I managed to find a bottle off Ebay, I hope its not a fake!
I own every version ' the edp smells the closest to the original splash bottle pour monsieur, the modern edt is nowhere it and the concentree is awful , I think you should get a proper vintage splash bottle and you will agree the modern edp is far closer to the original
