In this exclusive video, we explore the fascinating history behind the Apple TV+ series "The New Look." Delving into the iconic rivalry between fashion legends Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, we unravel how their clash of styles and philosophies shaped the world of fashion post-World War II.
Discover the true story of Christian Dior's rise in the fashion industry, marked by his groundbreaking 1947 collection that redefined women's apparel and established Paris as the fashion capital of the world. We examine the luxurious and romantic aesthetics of Dior's designs and how they contrasted sharply with Coco Chanel's vision of modern, practical women's clothing.
Hear the famous quote by Chanel on Dior's designs and understand its deeper implications in the context of their rivalry. We also delve into the personal histories of these two giants - from Dior's discreet personal life and his family's resistance against the Nazis, to the controversial aspects of Chanel's wartime activities and her return to the fashion scene. From her friendship to Winston Churchill to the controversy about possible Nazi collaboration.
This video is not just about fashion; it's a journey through a pivotal time in history, where style met politics, and personal beliefs were as influential as aesthetic vision. As we discuss the impact of their designs and philosophies, we also shed light on the lesser-known aspects of their lives and the socio-political context of their time.
Join us in uncovering the layers behind the glamour, the controversy, and the legacy of two of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century. This is a story about more than just clothes; it's about the people and the times that shaped them. #TheNewLook #AppleTVPlus #CocoChanel #ChristianDior #FashionHistory #WWIIFashion #DesignerRivalry #FashionIcons #littleblackdress

Even in the modern world not many can go from an orphan to a legend

She certainly did, but perhaps the way she achieved some of her goals are questionable. Many French suffered under German occupation, she was not one of them.

An accessorizing pillow on my living room chaise longue is inscribed,"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be Different"-Coco Chanel. I'm flattered because the girlfriend who gave it to me said that when she saw it, she thought of me. To say Coco was different is an understatement! She navigated her life as she saw fit. But political is not a word I'd attach to her. Her style is clean and disarmingly simple on the one hand and "ravishing"on the other, the word President Kennedy used to describe Jackie in her Chanel suit the morning of November 22,1963. The raspberry pink garment made of wool bouci'e, double brested with navy-trimmed collar with a matched pill-box hat and white gloves. Soon spattered with her husband's blood, she refused to take it off until the return to Washington from Dallas, saying, " I want them to see what they've done to Jack.".... But I digress. Coco Chanel didn't put herself on a pedestal. And I don't think she was even really phased when others did. She just happened to be supremely confident in her own talent and that allowed her to live life to the fullest and make dying an art form too. Whatta dame! No.5 No.5 No.5🌠🧥🗼 0:01

Thank you as always. It was actually Kennedy who chose that suit for her, as she presented him three outfits the night before and that was the one he chose. It is odd you mention it , as my next deep dive is actually on Jackie and Lee., I only did a quick Chanel video as the other is not finished. In the morning, he told her how gorgeous she looked, and then asked her to take off her oversized sunglasses saying 'it is you they have come to see, not me' . Heartbreaking tragedy.

@@MythicMindScape21 "Two years ago in Paris I introduced myself as the man who had accompanied Mrs. Kennedy to Paris. I'm getting somewhat that same sensation as I travel around Texas. .... Nobody wonders what Lyndon and I wear." That was JFK remarking after Jackie's thunderous reception in Ft.Worth the morning of the 22nd.And, WOW, you're absolutely right about Jack telling Jackie a couple of times to lose her shades. Hard to stump U!!!! 🥂 Cheers 🥂 Really looking forward to your upcoming 💎 gems.

@@lewismusser7184 Thanks for the support. She certainly added a lot to Jack's presidency even charming de Gaulle , who of course she spoke fluent French with. After the meeting, both her and Jack wrote him letters, he only responded to Jackie's 😂😂

@@MythicMindScape21 No doubt! Russia's Nikita smitten with Jackie too! But I mean, wasn't everyone!?! Gotta tell ya, my favorite former employer, the one and only Brooke Shields speaks fluent French too! Women like that are beyond dazzling! ICONS.

@@lewismusser7184 I absolutely agree, such a funny story that Khrushchev actually sent one of the space dog's puppies to Jackie after their meeting. John asked 'What is this dog doing here?' 'She responded 'I ran out of things to talk to him about so I asked him to send me one of the puppies' 😂😂

All this hero worship of Chanel annoys me. What did she do? Wear a pair of pants? Wow!

Not a nice woman. Her clothes were not that great. I prefer Dior

Her words about Dior were certainly reprehensible, and while we can never know the truth about whether or not she collaborated with the Nazi's, she certainly did not suffer under German rule, nor did her brand.
