Chanel was lying when they argued that the public would be confused about the resellers being represented by Chanel, what a joke. Chanel doesn’t care about the public 😂. I wish I could’ve gotten my bags from a reseller because I feel duped by how much I paid for my 2 bags at the boutique!
It is difficult because they are selling a tangible item. Once someone has bought it, they can essentially do whatever they want with it. The argument would be… how is this different than any other item one purchases ? Interesting case study! Another perspective is the difficulty in returning the item and yet- even years after the item is purchased, the company is concerned about its transaction history. Thanks for covering this
I wonder if these brands will try to go into the "certified pre-owned" market like what I think Rolex is just starting to do as a way to milk some extra money.
I doubt this ruling will slow down the resellers. As long as there’s price increases, reselling businesses will keep flourishing. The Brands can’t stop it. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em might be a useful tactic someday. 😂. They’re greedy anyway. I’m sure they want all the money. 😂 🤑.
The other part is they seem to forget that not everyone lives near a Chanel store. For some, buying from a reseller may be the best option to even get a Chanel bag. I'm minimum 5 hours from any Chanel store. If they think I'm driving that far for a bag, I've got news for them! The whole thing is just nuts and it's starting to get way to many control freak vibes. I do think WCGA probably shouldn't have used their name in any of their advertising, but this lawsuit is a bit out of hand.
I feel in time that all the big name luxury brands will not allow any companies nor pawn marketers, also pre-loved shops to resale any of their products. It’s all about Greed. If so “what are the consumers to do”. We can’t afford their extortionate prices, and what about this new generation that are being to get into luxury?
To me, they already made money on the original purchase and now it seems like they want the money a second time preloved. Or maybe they want the bags back cause they are better quality back in the day and they need the vintage bags back so they can resell or deconstruct them to teach new bag makers to correctly make the bags 😂😂😂😂😂Lol I’m kidding but what next?
