As I explained in a previous video, punishment for violation of coronavirus lockdown guidelines under the existing provisions of law was not sufficient. Several incidents had taken place in last one month in different parts of India involving assault on doctors and medical staff. Now, the President of India has promulgated an Ordinance to amend the law to provide for enhanced punishment for persons who indulge in acts of violence against health care services personnel. This video discusses important provisions of this Ordinance.

CrPC 468 can be applicable only in case of proceeding under section 31 of DV act it is not for session 12of DV act Kindly help me sir

Sir, police personnel is also attacked during the lockdown. Should government make the existing legal provisions more stringent by amending them to protect the police personnel because they also deserve to be protected from violence?

Yes. It should have been done for police as well as for others too who are involved in essential services during the epidemic. However, Govt has chosen to promulgate the Ordinance only for health care services personnel. I don't know why, but perhaps due to the feeling that usually people won't assault police while medical staff are more prone to such attacks being unarmed.
