@@joaovictor3312 I think in a world of constant change that only seems to move faster and faster, people want something to hold onto. Something more familiar. Something from a time when going online still felt like a new human achievement to be explored upon. Maybe that is why people are doing covers like this in a somewhat dated style.
But there is something about her videos over the years being recorded simply like this. It suits her and the songs and the vibe. That would all be lost with a proper recording. This is so raw and intimate. I love it. For RU-vid anyway
@@adammaidment9962 I agree. With a professional mic it would lose the rawness that attracts people (or at least me and you) to her covers. I’d definitely still listen to them if she got a mic though.
I love it when guitarists, who are also singers, do a great sync of their guitar playing and the singing without failing in any of 'em. This one was a perfect example, didn't miss a note, nor went out of tempo
Not saying she “missed” a note but she changed the vocal melody a lot - it still sounds great don’t get me wrong. It really hit me when she got to “I watched you change,” in the original, Chino pitches up about a half step to a whole step iirc & it’s like my favorite part of the whole song & here she jumps down instead of sliding up. Not saying it’s bad or that she did wrong, just that it’s different.
@@owenkennedy7854 It's crazy right? I mean when she sings it's new but also seems so familiar and comforting like you actually feel the emotion in the words which is rare these days in my opinion. She connects. Just wow.
@@owenkennedy7854definitely. I look forward to each song she does. There's a cover of the prodigy's first by Torre Florim that I would love for her to do a rendition of, give it a listen and let me know if you agree!
Change is such a trippy song because the instrumentals are amazing, but the vocals are so good at moments you don't even hear the instruments for a second; but then they come back in and it's BLISSFUL. And she accomplished that with just a guitar. Amazing.
Alicia, you have the unique ability to transform songs into something that is sometimes even more appealing than the original. I love your voice and from one musician to another, I hope you catch the attention you deserve. PS: If you need a drummer, let me know, lol.
I don't know whether to be mad or elated. I can't unhear this. Chino's version is such a perfect, sultry, solemn mood and somehow this brings me to an even more raw place. Simple perfection.
I have the same opinion of Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt" for similar reasons and he's not a girl. A simpler version that does a great job of capturing the original's mood. I feel Chinos voice was somewhat feminine in this song anyway so a female voice fits well. The young female vocalist does help for me because it is a song version that I can share with my daughter and she will be able to relate more than the official Deftones video or live performances. As usual, negative comments are best kept to yourself. No need to clutter positive performance with negative attitudes.
literally got chills listening to this. you really captured the mood of the original while making it your own and adding a new kind of melancholy and edge to it. definitely amazing.
LYRICS: I watched you change Into a fly I looked away You were on fire I watched a change in you It's like you never had wings Now, you feel so alive I've watched you change I took you home Set you on the glass I pulled off your wings Then I laughed I watched a change in you It's like you never had wings Now, you feel so alive I've watched you change It's like you never had wings Aah, aah, aah, aah Aah, aah, aah, aah Aah, aah I look at the cross Then I look away Give you the gun Blow me away I watched a change in you It's like you never had wings Now, you feel so alive I've watched you change Now, you feel alive You feel alive You feel alive I've watched you change It's like you never had wings Aah, aah, aah, aah Aah, aah, aah, aah Aah, aah You've changed You've changed You've changed
I love her voice that low grungy yet beautiful voice very talented I wish there was more woman like this in the world I wonder if she's American or of maybe Irish descent but she's amazing and she covers such great songs from the 90s
Every single cover I watch of Alicia's is just phenomenal. I want to see her making it big. She has it. Whatever IT is, she has it in spades. The industry desperately needs her style and vocals. Superstardom awaits. And I'll be front row. xxx
I remember seeing these guys in some of he smallest clubs during their Around the Fur and White Pony days to when they played the big festivals. Still one of my favorite bands of all time. Great cover. RIP Chi.
I'm obsessed with your version, it's really beautiful ! I love the voice inflexion you put in the chorus, it gives an indescribable feel of nostalgia/melancholy that really fits the lyrics and my hear.
Today is my birthday, and I'm going through a hard time right now and this is one of my favorite songs that hits me hard. You did it justice, you're amazing, I'm glad I stumbled across
Wow you seriously have one of the most soothing voices I've ever heard Would definitely love to see you perform System of a Down or Tool with these vibes
Your cover was what introduced me to this song, I had never even heard of Deftones before I watched this video, and now I’m obsessed with them. I come back to watch this every so often because this sounds as good as the original.
Alicia being a musician yourself you know that feeling you get when hear a song you like by a professional recording artist ,it seems to take you away to a different place in your mind. I'm sure a lot of your subs would agree you have that special something to transport people to a different place. I'm a little surprised a Recording Label hasn't tried to contact you yet.
I think everyone here keeps coming back because you show how magical and powerful music can be when you work hard and commit. A million thanks for your amazing performances. Looking forward to the tour.
@@cindynicole444 my dumbass heard the line i took you home set you on the glass i pulled off your wings and since then ive always imagined this song to be sexual food porn buffalo wings edition
Make Deftones work in acoustic is extremely hard (sometimes, even the band itself fails on that), so my mostly sincere compliments to you! Amazing cover of one of my favorite songs of all time!
OMG...this song has been so rare to find someone covering this...I was looking for Deftones back to school and I found yours....you did it outstanding!..good job.
this is amazing. i’ve been trying to learn this song but i’ve been struggling, but you did this perfectly. you have an amazing voice and i can’t stop listening to this.
even a person that listens to this good stuff. everyone on school and just friends are listening shit music but are saying that this culture of music sucks😥
Eh there’s no such thing as bad music. But yeah it kinda sucks that people only listen to one genre. We should be open to people discovering music but Idk how’s that gonna happen if everyone is scared of “listening to bad music”. Liking older music is kinda a privilege, probably means you were close to your parents.
This song hits the feels if you knew someone who was great and you watched them “change” into something you no longer know Also I’m in love with your voice and I don’t even typically like covers but yours are the absolute best
I have chills….. this is why i play music, hearing this in another form changed my whole thoughts on this song. I picked my guitar up instantly and learned this version, and it was so inspiring. Cheers!!!
Wow, thank you for sharing your version. Very well done. I remember when the original song was first released, always have enjoyed it...but, now even more. You have inspired me to learn this song on guitar. I am playing along with you to learn how to sing it while strumming. I’ve always had trouble timing my singing, you’ve really helped me to get it right. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work, you’re very talented.
Awh man, your voice is sooo pretty and I love your singing style!! And your guitar skills are immaculate ❤ pleeeaaaseeeee keep posting, chickie, the world needs more of this!
I miss you and your covers,. Just wanted to say I hope all is well and also that I think this is my personal favorite of your covers. Loved every single one of your originals! Denial is seriously a great song. Peace!
