When u lift, use the ribs or the U channel... lifting on floor board is an expensive repaid if its rusted!

Is the mk5 and mk6 oil filter the same?

Is the oil cleaner really necessary? Many mechanics, when changing my oil, mentioned that's not necessary, as the oil has also a cleaning property

You absolutely do not need an oil flush, especially for a normal service interval. All modern oils have detergents that gently remove deposits and keep all impurities suspended in it ( preventing build up). Change your oil at 10.000 km, use a fully synthetic oil and a quality filter, and your engine will be as clean as it can be. Now, if you have an older, neglected engine, the best way to clean it is to buy a cheap oil, run it for a few hundred km's and then change it. Repeat the cycle 2 or 3 times and all deposits and sludge will be removed. An oil flush will make the oil very thin and in time will cause wear even though you're only supposed to run it for 5 minutes. Also, if the engine is really dirty, it may set free bigger chunks of debris that will plug up oil channels and create all sorts of problems. I had this problem on an audi 2.0 petrol engine code ALT. I had just bought the car second-hand, used a flush from Liqui Moly and the engine started having problems. Wouldn't run properly anymore and developed oil leaks. I had to open it up and found debris in the oil journals and in the oil pick up. Also, the mechanic that helped me said that the old build up in the engine was also probably keeping the seal with the old hardened gaskets...after the buildup was removed, the gaskets started leaking. To conclude, you don't need it and if you do, it might create more trouble than it's worth.

Did you remove the oil filter with a 27 socket wrench?

OK, I've taken the 2 pistons out but I can't work out what to do with them....? I'm not sure that the oil additive did much. The oil still looks very dirty after the oil change. Maybe I should ask Motul if they can give me some of that additive for free so I can try it first.

Diesel engines... especially older ones, will always have apparently dirty oil, even shortly after the oil change. Its normal
