It took me like half an hour to find this and I was really about to go back to Reaper because of that function hahaha. I still would prefer if Apple made it actually work as it works on Reaper, a lot faster and it never fails. Thank you man :D
I compiled a list of Logic Pro features I'd love to see integrated into an update of Logic Pro. I sent this to them as a Feature Request but I'm curious if other Logic users feel the same way. 1 - Addition of user macros that can trigger multiple key commands at once 2 - Key commands dedicated to each of the buffer sizes 3 - Make flex pitch and flex time separate key commands so users don't have to go through flex time to get to flex pitch 4 - Make the join key commands work like the glue tool for connecting flex pitch events 5 - Allow "Join per Tracks" key command to join notes in piano roll as well 6 - Let users create automation "favorites" inside of the piano roll editor for CCs they use regularly in their workflow (and hide the ones they don't) 7 - Ability to save automation curves & patterns as presets 8 - Let users modify grayed out key commands 9 - Option to hide tool bar section of Logic Main Window & let users relocate clock to left side of screen so tracks can fill from very top to bottom 10 - Allow users to individually color various items such as channel strip plug-ins & cc automation 11 - Allow users to change names of CCs in piano roll 12 - Let users put folders inside of other folders for better organization 13 - Give users the option to hide "Logic" plug-ins in the Plug-in Manager 14 - (bug) Issue removing/renaming custom plug-in folders in Plug-in Manager after updating Logic 15 - Let users save and delete MIDI transform presets 16 - Allow users to save their custom MIDI assignments to a file like they can with Key Commands 17 - Option to select true peak, LUFs, or RMS for track and master meters 18 - Ability for users to add their own key commands to extend the number of available presets for things like MIDI Transform and also assign presets and virtual instruments to key commands (this is particularly useful thanks to innovations like the Logic Remote, MetaGrid & Stream Deck) 19 - Make Step Editor project based rather than per region so that Lane Sets can be utilized by other tracks once setup 20 - Give option to open audio in more than just one external audio editors (ideally at least 5) 21 - Allow option for regions to be renamed automatically when dragged to new track 22 - (Logic Remote) Let users draw automation using the Apple Pencil in Logic Remote 23 - Ability to disable bottom scroll bar in Piano Roll when automation is shown so users don't accidentally scroll when drawing automation at values close to zero 24 - Provide session spotlight search to locate track names in large sessions 25 - Ability to save summing folders as a preset (CST) and then load from audio or instrument track in the future (currently the folder is empty upon load) 26 - Allow users to opt out of the performance intensive elements of updates such as Dolby Atmos & Live Loops providing them as optional add-ons like Logic Pro's sound expansion packs
I love and use mostly logic but Reason beats Logic in this realm. you simply change the tempo of your whole songs (Project with multiple tracks) and viola!
For anyone having issues with this, your tracks should be consolidated first, i.e. bounce in place each track. Otherwise if you try this, or SMPT lock, your regions will overlap and your arrangement will be screwed up.
Heres a tough one i think: Say I have a project, whose tempo is 240bpm, but I have a rhythm guitar software instrument that now plays obviously dbl time guitar parts, which I don't want. Is there a way for that one track, with the software instrument to play/perform as if the project was half the speed??
Hi Chris, unless Im doing something wrong, it seems that if one is attempting to change tempo on a track with a tempo set contalining more than a single tempo, it doesnt work - not even for the midi tracks...so am I to assume that it's necessary to convert any multi tempo song to a single tempo prior to making this work? Thanks in advance.
I find it pretty hard to flex audio vocals for remix on logic Vs ableton. Is there an easier way to do on logic since the flex doesn't work well for vocals to be on tempo?
I just started using Logic Pro a week ago and didn’t realize you cannot change the tempo easy. It just says multiple time detected but I want my beats on higher tempo now!
Hi Chris, so much thanks. One question: is it possible to quantize an audio drum recording which has multiple tempos? I know already to group all the drums…but then ….Thanks
One thing I’m trying to learn to do is track change also changing the key of the section so it’s a different key! That’s hard can someone show me this?
The biggest downfall of Logic Pro X is that you can't change the overall track tempo by simply changing your BPM. This is a MASSIVE time waster. The fact you have to go through all these hoops just to change an audio files BPM is ludicrous. The video is awesome and I appreciate it a lot, but the fact you even had to make a 19 minute video explaining how to change audio tempo says it all. All I wanted was to change the tracks OVERALL BPM without it sound all choppy.. After watching countless videos I still haven't found a simple solution yet.
Select your main track then go to smart tempo and analyze tempo in Edit then apply the analyzed tempo to all tracks below your main track. You may or may not have to re-record your VOX. I chose to re-record mine becuz it's quicker
Sure, go select the type of slicing for every single track because Logic never recognizes them correctly, and then pray flex doesn't mangle everything. No thanks, Logic needs to fix this ASAP. Every other modern DAW can handle tempo changes, even drastic ones, on the fly of Audio/MIDI without issue.
