Cool! I used to remove the pip and hook it through the hole. Then I discovered prying up the bezel (without removing) enough to get a gap on the crystal side to pry up on. And now this! Thanks Mark.

Thanks Mark. This is going to come in very handy as my bezal insert fell out in the surf yesterday. The watch is only a month old.🙁 The seller was very good to deal with and a new one is already on it's way. Luckily I don't have to remove the old one. Love all your you tube videos. Hey Mark, I just got done removing and replacing my Kermit bezel insert on my Casio Duro with a new insert. I followed you directions to the letter, even found the exact adhesive solvent you used, and it worked perfectly. The insert came right out and the tape residue pulled out in one strip. Thanks for taking the guess work out of this simple mod. Best.

Hallelujah -- love the idea of "easy bezel ring replacement for dummies-method"-- perfect for me. Been unable to get the bezel off the SKX I bought for modding, despite my (relatively) strong hands and use of a variety of watch tools -- and, to win the "d'oh!" award, I even I managed to scratch the replacement band I had already put on the watch. Will try this pronto to bring the beautiful ceramic replacement I bought from you out of the cold and onto my watch!

I just tried this yesterday. I let the watch soak for 4 hours, and the insert came out easily. Very thankful for this video.

Very neatly done :) this method is by far thr best it seems. Sometimes the bezel get bent and it’s very hard to take back whats done when using tools.

Great tip. Thanks for sharing. I have used acetone in the past to remove bezel insert with great success. And it took less than a hour in acetone that did the trick.

Your "Watch and Learn" series of videos are great and yet one more evidence that you're a true watch guy and are really interested in accommodating your customers (and others), not just shoving off product. As someone else noted, Goof Off or Goo Gone may accomplish the same thing, but perhaps too harsh to the finish for soaking it in? Nice to have a non-toxic and non-flammable option. Sort of like how Evaporust is water-based and non-toxic, but awesome for removing rust from metal. Thanks again!

I have fixed 2 misaligned bezel inserts with isopro alcohol (more easily available in my locality) using this methodology. It is so much easier than prying the bezel off. I wish I saw this vid earlier. Thank you so much Mark for sharing this vid 👍👍🙏🙏

The pip on my Seiko just fell out and I was googling new bezel inserts and then I open up RU-vid and this is the first thing on my recommendations list. Sometimes it's good that big brother is always watching....

I think rather than use a cup I would suggest a small lid off a jar or bottle. That way you can precisely control the depth of the fluid and submersion.

Heard of this technique on a Casio Duro group, going to give it a go. I always assumed inserts were held in place with a strong glue. Learn something new every day.

I just did exactly the same thing except I used some Goo Gone I had laying around. Yesterday afternoon I added just enough to soak just the insert and nothing else. Came home from work today and it popped right off. Cleaned it up real good getting rid of the leftover adhesive and solvent with warm water and then made sure it was clean with a cotton swab and alcohol. Replaced the insert nicely. Easy peasy.

I literally just did this on SPRK29 with the SKX013 ceramic bezel I purchased from Long Island Watch, but now the bracelet looks a bit cheap against its new bezel. Had to go back to Long Island for a bracelet upgrade as well. Great company and great information! I wouldn't have been able to pop that bezel to be honest.

Surprisingly easy, thanks Marc. Gotta check it out with my Squale. It's very flat so it should be easy to submerge just the right part.

Thanks for the information Mark. I also did the same thing with the Goo Gone on one of my higher end Seikos. Just turned the watch over onto its face for less then 24 hours with the bezel barely submerged in the Goo Gone and my insert slid right out the next morning. Easy and didn't risk scratching my case or crystal. Keep up the videos !!!!!

Sweet. Imma have to do this when i switch out my squale 1521 insert. The little screws are warped so i cannot take the bezel off at all. This method is my saving grace, thank you sir.

Worked an absolute treat in about 3 hours on an insert where the tape had sweated (I hadn't peeled it) but the insert was otherwise glued in for keeps! When I bought the golf grip spray from EBAY I was still thinking - really? But it does work. The insert literally fell out under gravity.

Tried this today. Had it sitting in a bottle cap so as not to soak the entire watch. Only took 3 hours and the bezel insert basically just dropped right out. Magical!

You can also lay the watch flat on the table, dial side up, and just drop a couple drops on the bezel and crystal. Capillary action and gravity will pull it under the bezel. Just lay a piece of plastic wrap over it to prevent evaporation and to hold and excess in place. Even easier.

Another cool thing is that if you swab the bezel surface with the grip tape before installing the insert, you can make fine adjustments to the bezel alignment if necessary.

Genius! I hope you bought the guy who gave you the solvent idea a lunch or adult beverage. Impressed by your steady hand - probably from yrs of handling watches; I’d probably need to rig some kind of tool to hold the watch.

Don't even worry about sourcing this specific golf grip solvent. This method worked perfectly with simple 50% isopropyl alcohol. I soaked it only for an hour and a half and very carefully pried it up with an exacto blade. No fancy solvents, no risk of damaging any metals or coatings, evaporates quickly. Note, this only worked since the insert was secured with a double sided adhesive. Not sure if it would work so well with contact cement or other adhesives.

Excellent hack. I received a Heimdallr "Willard" with an insert that had a slight imperfection and my OCD will not allow for this flaw to go unnoticed. This seems like the most non-invasive way to correct it.

I've tried 3 different tools to pry to take the bezel off of my Steeldive SD1996, but I just could not get that bezel to come off. Fortunately, I had some acetone and I used this method, but I only had to leave the watch submerged for a couple of minutes and the bezel insert came right off, thank you so much!

OMG! I just tried this over the last day. It worked perfectly!! I used Players Gear Golf Club Grip Tape Solvent from Academy Sports. Now I just have to wait till my new bezel arrives. Going to put a pepsi on my Ray II. Can't wait!!!! ..... So I changed out the bezel and it looks great. This was so easy.
