Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate. Not sure prior "grouping" is a requirement but I confess I was under the impression that the Color Theme Picker could only use an image as "Input"!
In Illustrator open up the Recolor Artwork dialogue box in the usual way (by selecting the artwork to be recolored first) then DESELECT the "Open Advance Recolor artwork dialog on launch". Close the Recolor Artwork dialog box. Then reopen the Recolor Artwork dialog box again and you should see the Color Theme Picker exactly as shown in this excellent video tutorial. In my version CC 2023 I did not have to restart the application to get it work either appeared first time. If you need to get back all the Advance Option you need to reselect the" Open Advance Recolor artwork dialog on launch" but you then you can not see all the other advanced options at the same time.
Inspirational. Thank you. 👏 I've only heard of the legend of color picker tool, yet had no idea it could pull colors from a photo or illustration like that. So incredibly powerful and gets those stuck late night illustrations some much needed juice! Well done.
Hi, thanks for your time and tuts.if I may ask where is the Color Theme Picker icon in Adobe Illustrator 2023? The recolor artwork panel does not show the eye dropper...
Found the solution by twiddling as usual. Hope this helps!
really great tool to recolor the already looking great illustrations. If your original colors are not good, does it still produce nice result? I think the tool depends on the original color distribution. Tell me if I'm wrong . Thanks
There was another feature few years back but can't remember what it was....so basically, it's when you create some kind of presentation with a logo application to different mediums, instead of changing a logo one and at time..u can change the whole thing?
I have an image that I traced from a photo (using AI), that I have expanded. I have ignored white and so now I have a figure and some surrounding paths. I want to spot gradient areas of the image. When I try to use anything besides a linear or radial gradient, the cursor turns to one with the circle with the arrow through it. I want to use a free form gradient on this group of paths. It seems Free Form treats everything separately. I hope you can see what I mean.
Hello! I find it a fantastic resource to use the "colour theme picker" from an image in the "recolour artwork", but my Ilustrator is version 2020, and I can't find it. Do you know if it's available in Ai 2020? Thanks!
I guess if you create some shapes with those specific colours and group them, and then group the area of the design you wish to change to those colours and select that colour group - it should work!

hi, I am working on Illustrator 28.1 and regardless of the "workspace" I choose, I cannot seem to make the little "recolor artwork" icon appear in the tool bar as yours does. I've also tried to go to edit > edit colors and "recolor artwork" is grayed out. Any idea what I may be doing wrong??? Thanks so much
I'm create angel wings and heart design using Adobe illustrator and i uploaded to redbubble, after few weeks they suspend my design. They mention to use watermark. Is watermark affect for discreas our sales?
