In this video I show you how to change your turbos on you N54 powered BMW! I'm working on my 2008 E90 335i. I install a set of Dynamic Autowerks Turbos.
You can purchase the upgraded turbos here (affiliate):
ebay.to/2T78xUu
If you want a set for the 1 and 5 series (affiliate):
ebay.to/3hCUnVG
They're good for north of 500 WHP without breaking a sweat.
These are claimed to be the same or better than Pure stage 2 turbos.
These are put together in the USA via a company called Dynamic Autowerks based out of Michigan. They've been in the turbo business for a number of years.
Here is a forum thread discussing these turbos:
www.e90post.com/forums/showth...
You can purchase an install kit here (affiliate):
bit.ly/2LhTbtL
You can buy the 2" inlets from VRSF here:
www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-oem-loc...
I do this job at home on the floor with a floor jack and regular tools. Plan to set aside an entire weekend to get the job done. It's not difficult just time consuming really.
This installation DIY will apply to E92 and all E9X models, it would be similar for the E87 135i or E60 535i.
Now days quality upgraded turbos are cheaper than replacing your OEM turbos. You can save some money and make over 500 WHP! Hopefully this video inspires some people to consider replacing the turbos on their car instead of paying a shop.

Even though you mentioned another video about the subframe, you should probably at least mention that you need engine support to hold up the engine while you pull the frame. Some guys may opt to skip the other video and assume that this video is enough

Vehicular DIY just wanted to add, you can remove the subframe assembled and save a lot of time. Hang calipers, disconnect power steering hoses and shaft, and drop struts from tower. Granted I had a trans jack for this but I could imagine a 2x4 jig on a floor jack will get it. Great diy thanks

@@TheCloser1 Can you give more details about this? Is there a video? Are you saying you can remove the subframe before you do anything else? Or, are you saying you can remove the subframe permanently?

For anyone wondering: this is absolutely worth it. It transformed my car. My stock turbos were weak, only being able to hold 12psi at 17 target. After installing these, it targets 19.5 and holds 19+ and even breaks 20psi. Even without a tune, it's insane what these turbos did for my car. Highly recommend. Also, if you're a semi-novice like me this job will take you 5-6 days if you spend 4+ hours on it daily. I did it from jack stands in my driveway, having to go back and forth from the auto parts store for certain tools. It's very gratifying knowing I did it by myself and saved $3,000 by not paying an indie shop.

Got a set of these, and sometimes they don't make boost, paid like $500 for a shop to inspect them, "Manually actuated the waste gates with hand pump while watching and making sure they close. Bad. Found the bank 2 turbo waste gate is seized. Recommend replacing both turbos."

Hi brother first of all thanks for all the content that you have made I was wondering if you can help me with question that I have I have an mmp stage 3 installed and I was reading about need bigger turbo drain lines because of the boost increase can you give some advice on that also I have a leak on the the turbo lines so I'm going to drop the turbos to change the seals and the copper washers would you suggest to get new wider or thicker lines for the turbos thanks for your time and advice cheers from South Texas

It says you need to have a tune for these turbos. I'm new to tuning. I'm interested in MHD but it does not show an option for "hybrid turbos"?? What tune do I need? I'm not expecting to make too much power. Should I purchase stock?
