I have the gen 2 Morimoto heads and tails. In your video you mention the Morimoto XB headlights have a tinted lens, but mine have a clear lens. They look like they have a tinted lens from a far because everything is blacked out like the Alpharex black but they indeed are crystal clear. The side marker is also orange just like the Alpharex black too. I too wish they were smoked but, "Beggers can't be choosers" haha. In my opinion they are the best aftermarket option along with the Alpbablack Novas you have. One improvement I wish they would make on the XBs and the Novas are the diffuser for the drl/turn signal. As the design is now, one can see the individual LED light sources. It would be nice if the drl/turn signal gave off a uniform glow as opposed to being able to count the number of LEDs that comprise it. We can always have hope for the 3rd generation right? Keep making the videos dude!👍

That is a lot of lights! Looks great! I've got the Morimoto XB in the rear and side mirrors along with Baja Designs for the Gobi roof rack. I'm going to go with the Morimoto XBs for the front and might get the lights you have for behind the grill and take the Raptor lights off. Great looking rig man. Wow!

How is the light output? I’m torn between these and the Morimoto. For the $$ I want to make sure it’s at least on par with the 23 stock LED output though and I haven’t seen any lux testing on the G2 yet.

Lights look crazy good.... The startup sequence is pretty slick. It didnt take long for folks to ask about getting rid of the DRLs 😅 All the cars in Canada have had DRLs since the 90s I think. No one cares. Any car that has lights on means it occupied and has potential to be moving or pull out in front of you.

I Have a 2022 trd pro 4Runner and the lights are so bright that people are constantly flashing me at night. I give a quick flash back so they can see I don’t have my brights on and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Does anyone else have this problem. I would change the lights out but I believe the after market lights are even brighter? Any suggestions??

I would just say aim them down more if you are being flashed. I haven’t been flashed in like a year-ish. I use the back of low cars at 10-20 ft as my gauge to help dial in the height because all the standard ways online I think aren’t right for lifted rigs…idk they don’t seem to work quite right.

Sherpa is prototyping brackets. The wind faring gets completely removed. I’ve made custom little brackets. My Sherpa rack video and SS5 bracket short/SS5 install video all cover it!

Hey need to validate I have a Runner 2023 and that same yellow wire I left it disconnected. The question is that now DRL only turn on when side markers are on. Is that supposed to be like that?

No but I would say don’t expect any of the Chinese manufactured lights to be perfect. Focus on the warranty. I think it’s inevitable for most but the question is how the company will take care of you. You can also reseal them yourself if it’s really of worry.

Front and back Morimoto owner from hawaii, cops don’t typically care about tinted lights unless you’re being a douche. Care more about tinted windows not in spec. Just have to change back to stock when it comes time for safety. Cops with 4Runners have all these styles of lights

@Yeet safety check inspector from a dealership (rubbah dodge). I was told by David from recon that as long as lights are not tinted with film and if aftermarket headlights/taillights/side markers have DOT/SAE stamping. They are Street legal. Also if reflector style headlamps have aftermarket HID/LED bulb, ballast must have DOT stamping. 🤙

For similar design headlights from Ford/Audi/BMW/etc. cost $1500 per side. It's what non-halogen headlight enclosures cost people just typically get it rolled into the cost of a vehicle.

I am finding wherever I can to report how terrible Alpha rex products are and their customer service. I had a set purchased for a toyota. Impossible to level them from the install and they did not want to help. Always the customers fault. I then had an issue that everyone kept flashing me and I later discovered the lights were constantly changing brightness on their own. shortly after that, they filled up with so much condensation that it looked like someone poured water into them. The units are not even a year old. I have been trying to work with Alpha Rex for months now and they keep telling me they are looking into it if I can ever get them to respond. Makes it impossible to drive your vehicle when the lights don’t work and there is no concern from the company to address. Absolutely horrible customer service.

Biggest problem I have with Toyota headlights. They turn yellow and become quickly fogged from driving. Cheap plastics. I'd say buy aftermarket soon as you purchase your 4 runner. And when you sell it replace the fog and head lights with the OEM ones.

Those Alpharex lights suck on the road. Your footage @18:32 shows just how horrible they are. You can barely see in front of the vehicle.

Nah, they are fine in my opinion. Just depends on how you want to angle them. Most people on RU-vid film with iPhone and their filming adjusts to the lowlight and overshows light output. I angle mine way down because I drive in the city mostly and don’t want to blind people. I have plenty of light options in the country :)
