Hi everyone! Today we will be reviewing the twelfth book of The Dresden Files series, "Changes"! I am so excited to be talking about this one! I had an absolute blast reading this book and overall found that it absolutely lived up to the massive hype it had surrounding it. Have you read "Changes"? What were your thoughts? Yesssssssss so glad you finally made it here. What a freakin ride this book is. And then Butcher just keeps that train of awesomeness rolling through every following book. I think with this one he ascended to fantasy writing godhood!

Dresden Files is my favorite urban fantasy series. I've never read another long-running series with better character development. I love the main protagonist but this series would be nothing without the supporting characters. I've read the first 15 books twice and the last two books once. I enjoyed my reread of the series even more. I also really appreciate the way the Jim Butcher has constantly upped the stakes and has introduced new plot lines as the series continues. I can't wait for you to get to books 16 and 17!

Would highly encourage you to read the collection of short stories Side Jobs prior to Ghost Story if you can. The Warrior is my single favorite piece of Butcher’s writing, and I think you’ll love it. Aftermath is also a very good thing to read prior to Ghost Story.

Great review and I’m glad you liked it as much as I told you you would (I’m currently on Book 16). Ghost story is good but not as perfect as Changes. Keep it up!

Love to hear this. Dresden is absolutely victim to the youth of Jim Butcher when he started. While there's joy in following Jim's growth as an author and the satisfaction of the heights he reaches, it does make it a difficult sell to new readers, I know this first hand, as do all the fans, getting through those 'teething' books *are SO WORTH IT*. Jim Butcher had the idea of a truly epic story in his head, we just have to keep getting people to start the journey.

This is the 1st book i think of when it comes to books that met the hype. Sure there are others like A Storm of Swords but i wasn't involved in the book community then so I got to read it with as little hype as I possibly could.

This makes me so happy, Alex. 🥹 I'm so excited for you to read the rest of the series, because I think multiple of the later books actually top Changes. You're going to love Ghost Story, it has some revelations that are going to blow you away, and has some of the most beautiful and deep character moments in the series.
