Thanks for the video and info...much appreciated. I was wondering if the stud is stubborn if the hub would warp. I like the idea of using a socket on the back and a C-clamp to press it out. Thanks !!!!
i tried to remove the old stud and use the hammer like you did. it was so rusty , i bent the hub which i found out later.. would recommend pressing it out on rusty ones..
I see you still have your unconnected sway bar hanging out there. Any reason for that? Also, how hard is the Ascent brake swap? Never heard of doing that. How noticable is the stopping power improvement?
Use a rubber mallet and strike on the outer edge diagonally to the plane of the rotor. Also spray a little PB Blaster on the backside, taking care not to get any on the studs or you’ll over torque them. Speaking of torque, on my ‘12 Outback the caliper bolts are 88.5 ft-lbs.
How is removing the rear caliper different than removing the front caliper? The rear uses an electronic parking brake so it's all contained in the rear caliper.
