Changing Brake Pads on Apollo Electric Scooters 

Hey Philip, thank you! The brake pads don't have an audible indicator like cars, and routine visual inspection is the best indicator. Once you get past the break-in period, the handbrake will need adjustment as you rack up the miles. This is a good indicator that your pads are wearing down, and that a visual inspection is needed. Most find it is time to change the pads when adjusting the brake cable position no long gives a firm and well positioned brake lever.

Rev Rides; Thank you for the reply Tyler. I should have included this next question in my last inquiry. How about the rotor (Disc brake) itself? When does that need to be changed? When I feel a distinctive lip forming on the edge of the disc? I know we are not talking about a car here but why not ask anyway? I Would suppose I would really have to put some serious miles on the scooter to get to this point. And then we have the old school drum brake in the rear which you can’t see anything by just looking at it! Any advice for maintenance on this? Thank you again as always! Philip

@@metaljew4456 Hey Philip, I'll be totally honest with you. I have never seen someone wear out the the disc, even after thousands of miles. I think the 500 mile interval is a good time to do a good thorough check, and to pull off wheel to inspect the drum brakes. If you start to feel a deep groove in the rotor, this would be a good indicator to change, but I have not seen this scenario yet. -Tyler

Rev Rides ; OK so front disc is basically for the life of the Zero9 and rear drum is a set up that’s good for hundreds of miles. I will have an 8X by the time any of that becomes an issue. I’m really concerned about the industry as a whole. Look how many E-Board companies have not made it and the biggest shock of all is Boosted Boards. Their scooter actually put them out of business. Several bad decisions made with that project. Not enough range. No suspension....But like everything Boosted, great build quality. Glad I got my MATE X 750s before the sh*t hit the fan. Have you ever ridden any E-Mountain Bikes? They are awesome. Your industry should definitely position itself as the ultimate Coronavirus killer. You can safely ride with friends or cruise by yourself. It’s awesome exercise and fresh air. My ZERO 9 and MATE X have played major role in keeping me sane thru the endless weeks of quarantine here in NJ. Thankfully I live in rural Hopewell NJ where there are tons of trails and places to ride. Don’t worry the Zero 9 stays on pavement. Thanks for all of your help Tyler. Correct. There are two pads in the front and two pads in the rear. They are sold in sets of two. revrides.com/products/zero-brake-pads

We can't say for certain as we haven't changed pads on the Apollo Explorer, but most brake calipers/pads are similar so you should be able to follow along and get a good idea.
