I think you must have a voltage problem in your home, or you are vacuuming diamond dust.... Kidding. I just got through replacing the brushes in my Ametek whole house vacuum motor. This motor was installed in 1997 and this is the first repair I have had to make. Installed the brushes and I expect it to last another 10 or 12 years. Instructions say to use a dimmer to reduce the voltage to the motor for 45 minutes to break in the brushes, then full speed ahead. My motor was stamped "Made in USA". I see the new ones are made in Mexico.... could that be the problem?
@@antoniozambrano1807becuase i checked the power cord and there were cuts or kinks. Tested the outlet and that works. I onow that the motor is like an alternator in a car and it can go out. So i took the chance. Hey worst that could of happened was i had to return for a refund. Also googled it and the motor came up for sale many times so that gave me another lead. You could also use a mutlimeter on tye negative and positive tetminal cable that connect to motor. If swtich is in the on position and the powrr is reaching the motor then its the motor
@@tybdhnvynmnccvn I was just told that the motor is bad on my vac. Is it hard to change or do you happen to know if there is a video out there with instructions? Thanks.
Very easy to replace brushes on most of these Amertek Motors. you will know if the brushes go bad , it just won't start, it may stink of electrical short circuit.. If the fan blades go bad you will hear a terrible screeching sound.. Brushes are less than $30 shipped
