This video is a quick "how to" change out the Global Link lock cylinders or cores on so called Slam Latch or Baggage Locks away from the standard G391 keyed cylinder that most RVs have installed at the factory.
We ordered all the parts from Amazon, but the lock cylinders are also available from a variety of sources on the internet.
Global Link offers 90 different & discrete key/lock possibilities.
Items you will need:
-1 yellow "Change Key" - use this to remove and replace each lock cylinder
-1 set of purple keys that match the new lock cylinder core number you choose
-New lock cylinders with numbers matching the purple key - the number you need will depend on the number of locks you want to change.
Make sure you get the same lock number for the keys and new cylinders.
Changing the cylinders is very simple. Probably the most important thing to remember is to pay close attention to how the old cylinder is oriented. Look on the back end of the cylinder as you remove it for the orientation of the metal tab and insert the replacement cylinder in the same orientation.
We also installed an RVLock keyless entry lock a few months ago and love it. Making this change gives us more peace of mind with gear stored in the RV when it's in storage or even when it's in a campground and unattended.
