Changing Minds! : Banding Bull Calves, Busting Hydraulic Hoses

We got the first group of bull calves castrated (or as LB calls it..minds changed) yesterday. We are banding for the first time this year and Lawrence explains why in the video. Everything went well, until we found the fence shorted and then blew a hydraulic hose on the tractor. Good time, always! 🙃😅 Stay tuned for more, we've still got plenty to do. As always, THANK YOU for being here and for all your support! Until next time, Farm Hard, Live Well!

Another great video! Silver lining to this "manure" year 2020: your channel is growing, folks are getting educated on how much it takes to make a farm go, can't always count on plan A, gotta have plan B,C, and sometimes Plan D, and LB is getting less camera shy.

"Events" such as hoses breaking, tires going flat and equipment failures are regular occurrences on a farm. Same goes for getting crap on your hands or your hat. Tell Lawrence that if he would talk more you wouldn't have to guess so much about what's going on. Another excellent video from my favorite channel.

Well another interesting, fun, entertaining, educational, and humorous video is in the books! - and was very much enjoyed and appreciated! I'm sure you're already working on the next one ... and I'm already looking forward to it! Thank you again Meredith for all you do to 'share your real' with us. Even when you share your real problems and worries (like, I'm sure y'all are genuinely concerned about beef prices but I'm also sure that Lawrence will make the best decision possible under the circumstances - this ain't his first rodeo!) and regardless of my concern about your real life problems, you STILL manage to brighten my days with every one of your videos! Wish I could manage to somehow do the same for you - even though you always somehow manage to have the most positive outlook of anyone I've ever known! You bring a ray of sunshine in to all the lives you touch with this channel and your cooking channel and your IG and FB pages. You are like the best therapist ever and I am so grateful to have your wisdom in my life ... thank you! Oh, and BTW, please don't forget to video the 'new steers' when you feed tomorrow so we can see if they indeed do the 'Lawrence dance'! Thanks again my friend.

Please add a Farmers Cowboy Hat to your store with insignia “LB’s Farm Hat”. Please add Mens Swim Shirt, 3X - 6X, made of swim suit material. Hope the cattle sales go well!! Freeze framing Lawrence putting on band with his head below the cow’s “backside” and you holding the cow’s tail, shows Real Farmer’s Dedication!! When Lawrence’s thick Denim shirt goes from lite blue to dark blue...we then it’s hot!!! Banding is the way to go. Great seeing whole family involved. Great True Video!!

The joys of farm life. That green stuff is just refined grass, don't let it bother you smells like money. Hate having to cut calves that big but, sometimes it works out that way. You are right not a mud time job nor high temps. job to use the knife. I didn't think the bands were going to be big enough. That is a really nice looking bunch of calves they are in really good shape. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and adventures, they sure took that better than I expected. Growing up my sister decided to raise capons, she told me what she needed to perform the operations, and I made her the torture devices she requested. She cut into the first one and gave up after it screamed, 😂 I asked her what did you expect, it’s going to just sit there and say yes please cut into me and rip out my inner vitals. She’s like I guess I never really thought about it from their perspective. 😂. You brought back some funny memories, that and Mike Rowe has a great ted talk about his experience from the dirty jobs tv show, changing the minds of sheep. Definitely worth listening to. Stay safe, wishing you and your family the best.

I respect the way ya’ll work so much. We do not farm but live rurally and fairly simply, try to keep debt to a minimum. We have homeschooled throughout all of school with our two kids, both now 18 & 20, so we have been a one income family. That means sacrifice . So we drive old trucks and cars, the house needs a million repairs and so do the cars. We have areas of our yard that looks like a junk yard but those piles of seemingly useless junk has saved our butts a few times as hubby uses stuff from that pile to do his Rural Route Engineering. He once made a hoist to pull the pump out of our well because we couldn’t afford to have someone else do it. So when I hear the modern PSA “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle!” , I just have to laugh because broke people call that “making do” and they have been doing it for centuries. And I have found that those same people who want us to be kind to the environment will call the county and complain if they see your junk pile; even though they moved to the boonies and expect us all to act like there is an HOA. The only HOA we have around here is the abundance of guns we all own. Lol. I’ve also had judgment come from driving old vehicles and I’m just like “If you think so shallowly as to judge me by my 20 year old Suburban; I’m don’t think I want to know you.” I like people to be real and i like to accept them for who they are and be respectful of their talents and beliefs, I just also expect the same respect in return. Ya’ll are so not alone in the “Everything breaking” part of life. It is so frustrating but at least we both know now that we are not alone. I also understand doing the castrations late even though we have only every castrated a duck (that’s quite a story). That is just life. Crap happens and not just to your hat...hehehe. You just do the best you can, make the best decisions you can with the information and prayer you have at that time and then move forward. It seems like it is always something. Good thing there are still a few people like you left in this world who will commiserate with those of us who understand and we can all cheer each other on. I am having a marathon of your show to catch up because I haven’t had a lot of time to watch lately. My last thought. I totally get the glove thing. I have a size 3 ring finger...my hands are the size of a child....shoot, I’m the size of an average 11 year old so finding gloves that fit is next to impossible, unless I really do want Paw Patrol characters on them :/ They also just take too long to find and it is hard to work with them on. The only time I really use them is for lifting heavy stuff outside, moving firewood or scrap metal. Stuff that will splinter up my sensitive midget hands. Hahahahaha. :). Ya’ll keep up the good work. Hugs and prayers to you all !

If nothing ever went wrong, you would not appreciate the times when things go right. If there are times when things go wrong, be sure to place them in the proper prospective. I do this by telling myself. " If THIS is the worst thing that happens to me today, it will be a good day ". Don't mind the small things, because in life, you all appear healthy and in good spirits and you have a loving home. There are folks out there whose homes flooded during the recent hurricane. So remember the next time a hydraulic hose busts or a cow shits on you " If this is the worst thing that happens to me today, it WILL be a good day. Take care...love your channel.
