This what I love about SV's. I have a DL650 Adventure that you have to remove lots of cowling, disconnect fuel line, remove tank, etc. Kind of a hassle. Just to get to the low beam bulb,you have to take off lots of cowling, remove instrument cluster., etc. SV just a couple screws! Luckily, once the valves are checked/ adjusted, usually never have to be done again. These engines are easy on valves. Talked to a service tech and he seen a VStrom 650 with 300k miles on original engine. These engines will be missed.

Went to a Suzuki dealer today because of your videos influenced me. Selling my HD 1200C Custom 2004. It was $6299 SV650 2020, but with tax and license it became $7900. I walked out. Going to look for used unit. Your hard work with these videos is inspiring. Thank you.

Excellent video. very useful. nice easy presenting style. Have you any plans for long day or 2-3 day trips next year, maybe camping. I've done a few this year and the SV is well capable. Might be an interesting theme showing that the bike can do anything asked of it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks man, I do plan to do some more day trips and longer trips but maybe not camping. I don’t think I would have a good time lol I need a lot of stuff when I go camping. More than I could bring on 2 SVs lol

That's a pretty straightforward procedure,i like the idea of the Hinged Tank.I had an 05 SV650 but never got around to/needed to change the Air Filter.Please note that every Motorcyclist should invest in a JIS Screwdiver set as any Screws and Fittings wont be Phillips.

A good ratchet set would work better. You can’t always get the right amount of torque with a screw driver. But I agree you need to have some tools at least lol. Ride safe man!

Thanks man! It’s legal enough lol we never needed emission testing on motorcycles here so I don’t think I’ll have any issues other than it being very loud.

hey get his tip, when next time inspecting/replace air filter, clean any oil found inside air box is come from crank case breather, usally found a smal sponge or something similar... cheers

Nice straightforwadd approach, got here browsing through vids. on SV650, I am about to get a brand new 2023 edition in few days now yet still keep searching for any posible cons prior to spending the money. Only thing about mods and stuff, if you plan on riding you bike long and keep it in good condidtion its worth to reconsider getting few horsepower more. Them things don't get away without affecting engine life = stuff calculated long before at the Suzuki R&D dept. bro;)

Hey man, nice Video! I have a 2nd gen sv650 and my bike has a rod that sits under the passenger seat. You can take the rod out and then put one end at the top end of the gas tank and the other end on top of the fork. That way U don't have to hold the tank when you do work on the air filter or whatever. Don't know why they didn't include that on the 3rd gen model. Anyway, keep up the good work and stay safe! 👍❤️

Nice vid, couldn't find another one for the gen3. The plastic trim comes apart, at least on my X, might make it a bit easier :-)

Thanks! I’ve noticed that too so thought I would make one. I believe the wide trim is all one piece on mine it didn’t seem to want to come apart any further. Maybe the x has a slightly different design because of the few extra fairing pieces up front.

I know this is an old comment, but I just put in a K&N on my 2019. Definitely worth it. Surprised by the difference. It's not overly dramatic, but is definitely noticeable, seemed to open it up a bit. Plus you can hose it down, it will last the life of the bike, I expect. Highly recommend.

Great vid, any remap or tune planned with the airbox/decat mod or are they complimentary enough that that none would be necessary? I'm at about 4,500 miles and should probably take a peek under there.

Interested to see your dyno results. I have an Ixil hyperflo with plans to add an Arrow header and get rid of the cat. Holeshot Performance has a plug and play control module pre-mapped for the set up with dyno results...on his channel if you're interested. I don't think I'll mess with the air box. Got 8000 miles on my 2018 this summer. The SV runs strong...I gotta say. I'm in Minnesota so not many rides left this year.

To run a usb cable from the battery is there any reason you can't do this with the tank, route it around the side if the air casing and to the bars?

The intake of this bike is very restricted. I made a mod in mine, removed that plastic deflector that is fixed with 2 plastic pins (under the tank) and made a cut in the outer part. I'm still using the stock exhaust, but I felt a little diference in power, yes. I don't know if doing a big hole in the air box will help much because it is under the tank and the air flow in that area is very restricted, it's beheind the front end of the bike, etc. Maybe we should think about a ram air system :) I'm still thinkg about it... Also, my full exhaust system is on the way... Please keep up with updates! I'll share mine too.

You would below air though the filter the opposite direction of the normal filter air flow on the bike. There should be arrows how to install the filter on the actual filter. Shoot air though it in the opposite direction of the arrows. Because the dirt entered from that side you want to blow it back out where it came from not though the filter to the other side

I have the same bike, but it is red, stock mirrors, shorty exhaust, and it has a small windscreen. (which has been way better.) I have been needing to learn how to do this. What kind of seat is that? What are the bars sticking out of the side of the engine?

Seat is oem Suzuki from a SV650X bought from Suzuki website. The bars are frame sliders in case the bike ever goes down on its side to protect the engine and frame from damage. They’re also nice rests for you legs on long rides

Depends on riding conditions. I check mine every oil change. Once it looks dirty enough I change it. If you hold it up to the light and no light comes through it’s time to replace it

Longtime subscriber. Man I bought a 2020 SV 650 and at less than full throttle it runs like shit. Herky jerky such BS on a new bike. Any Advice? All I have read glorifies the SV 650 but my 2020 runs like shit.

It’s all about throttle control. You have to be smooth with your inputs. I had this issue at the beginning but once you get smooth with the throttle it’s not jerky anymore. Plus it’s got a lot of torque so it adds to the jerkyness

The exhaust will fit but the bracket holding it to the side of the bike you will have to measure and check or worst case get a piece of metal and drill two holes and make a bracket/exhaust hanger yourself for the side mount.
