Changing the Ignition Coil on a 1990 Mazda B-2200.

Hello, sorry for the super late response. I was having issues with the distributor, car would sometimes turn on and sometimes would not, and eventually it would die while I was driving. I changed the ignition switch cus reading around said it could be one of the causes of what I described, but turned out it was fine.

Vince howdy! I thought about replacing the carb with a Weber, but never got around to it. I cleaned out the stock carb is about all I did to mine.

best thing i did was throw away all that junk and put a weber on...10 years ago!!!!!

Plox Plox I’m no expert, but it might help. It’s also an inexpensive and easy enough thing to change. Let me know how it goes!

Did changing the coil fix the misfire have same issues

According to google, " The polarity of the coil should match that of the battery by connecting it so (+) goes to (+) and (-) connects to (-). But don't worry about which way you install the battery (positive or negative ground) or which way you install the coil (regardless of coil markings) it will automatically adjust itself." Mine had a tiny plus somewhere on it.

@@BeaterCollector I mean I can’t say that google is always right, but that’s one of the options that came up when I googled it. Which frankly, is how all these videos were made: the Mazda book which made no sense, or other forums which tried to describe things. That’s the best I got for you! Sorry :P

Daniel Sandozequi , I believe the owners manual adds it as part of the 100k maintenance. If not there I reas it somewhere in a forum or other maintenance book. Mine had a crack on it so I replaced it, I didn’t really notice any difference in performance however.

@@danielsandozequi7295 , I didn't have any noticeable results on that one, as the issue that led me to change the ignition switch was a faulty distributor. Changing the distributor did have a significant positive change on how quick the truck started.

:P what can I say, low funds for this sort of thing lol
