DIY how to change oil on 2000 Nissan Xterra v6.
Remember you can recycle your used oil at most auto part stores for free.
The Xterra was introduced in North America in the 2000 model year (1999 calendar year) and marketed using the tagline Everything you need, nothing you don't.
The Xterra was not Nissan's first compact SUV: Nissan Japan had the Nissan Mistral, and the Nissan Rasheen, while Nissan Europe produced and sold the Terrano, a 2-door SUV sold from 1993 to 2006.
Nissan licensed the name "Xterra" from Hawaiian-based TEAM Unlimited LLC for an undisclosed amount of money. TEAM Unlimited owns the rights to the Xterra Triathlon as well as the former Lifeguard Challenges. This enabled TEAM Unlimited to grow the Xterra brand.
In August 2015, Nissan announced that the Xterra would cease production and the last Xterra would be sold in the fall of 2015. Nissan has no plans for a replacement or successor.

Damn that is one clean Xterra and engine compartment! I have a 2001 Xterra with 260k on the odometer and yours compared to mine is like day and night.

That is the cleanest Xterra engine compartment I have ever seen. My 2001's compartment probably has more oil outside the engine than inside the engine after 20 years and 265k miles.

Thanks. Helped me to be prepared to change our granddaughter's oil. The old crush washer looked like it had never been changed in 207,000 miles. I couldn't get it off the drain bolt so went out and bought a new drainbolt & used an OEM Toyota crush washer.

good video only one thing id like to suggest and that is taking off the oil cap before draining or even crack it this will allow more of the old oil to be removed when draining im kind of particular when it comes to it and i want to get all of the old oil out lol thanks for the video

It doesn't seem to have made a difference. It takes 3½ quarts. He put in 3½ quarts, so I guess he drained out enough as his level was right on full.

Nice job. I have the exact same model and color. I like your amber fog lights. I would also suggest on every oil change...pull off your MAF and spray it clean...only takes a minute or so.

Brother , always wipe the oil filter seat clean before installing the new filter, run engine and make sure oil filter is not leaking before Re- installing skid plate , otherwise a good video.

I can reach in through the driver's side wheel well and change the filter. No need to remove the skidplate.

The one thing I would do differently is to pre fill the new oil filter to where the threads start and let the new oil soak into the filter media before doing anything else. This prevents the filter from absorbing oil when you start your machine and lessens the metal to metal contact. This is what a Harley mechanic taught me.
