First rate video! Lots of good information and a great mechanic/presenter. Thanks for doing a great job on all these videos. Roy Lewis Atlanta, Georgia USA
This is an awesome video. It answered my question about what exactly the gasket should look like. It is the rubber ring that goes around the thermostat. Thanks!
No. There is only one thermostat. Perhaps the bottom hose has hardened and has a small hole somewhere. Start the engine, check where it's leaking, shut the engine off and fix the leak.
No problem changing thermostats and refill with my '69 Pontiac Tempest back in the Collage year. I had issue with my 1998 Subaru Forester DAYS after replace/ refill one.Temperature gauge hit extreme high in the red zone. Off to cool and Start repeatedly to avoid over heating to the nearest Dealer : Claim blown gasket cost almost 4 grands. Same happen to my 2006 Civic. Dealer claim improper coolant drain. Need special equipment to extract air bubble to avoid air lock cost $65. Please educate !!
@snareman89 its better to do it if you want to, as maybe the water is dirty and you want a new coolant fluid to use, what u need to do to drain the old water from both your engine and the radiator is just to remove the down hoes as first step, then start the engine, wait for like 2 minutes till all the fluid is out, then turn off your engine , you do not need to keep it run with no coolant water. now almost all the old water in your coolant system is out !.
good video other than you said "notice im using a coolant that is a REDISH, ORGANISH color" @ 7:53, hope you know RED is a entirely different antifreeze, and ORANGE is a entirely different antifreeze, there is no redish, organish antifreeze lol.
I thought the gasget goes around the thermostat not on top of it , the gasket has a slice all the way around on the inside that the thermostat edge slides into
So are the Forester, thermostat locate at the bottom of the radiator, they call it '' air lock". beside the ' Tempest,' I also changed my 95' Villager, no problem there either. Watch out buddy, coolant are extremely toxic !!!! Don't tell me you own a Civic, and I had a problem and you don't ?
No, still waiting for one, Talk to one honest Honda service manager who fix my problem charging only cdn $ 65. He don't recommend DIYchanging thermostats on modern car these day, cost around $ 100 bucks don't worth the risk !
i have just replaced my Thermostat on 80 ford truck. and i put it in right, and i see antifreeze on top. when motor is running i don't see no leaks. when i drive it. it back on top of head. it is tight not cross treaded. any ideals. ? thank you.
my car is getting hot and the fan will not work unless i turn the ac on , but if i turn the ac off fan will not work at all, what can i do? is it the thermostat? senor or relays?
bummer, i changed mine and it went hot real fast.. so i drained it again.. fking blew through it with my mouth on the radiator fill. ( the themo is under so it all drained out ) and refilled. No problems !
