There's just something about your onscreen presence that keeps me (and probably your other subscribers) interested. As someone that loves to learn new things, I find your videos informative. This feeling is all too common for me! I enjoy writing and have an itty bitty following of 1.94k. I have a book that’s hit 1 million reads, and let me tell you - the moment that milestone reached my life I became over-obsessed with trying to write and update consistently, thinking that my little books of fun would not be acknowledged anymore if I stopped writing. I bent myself backwards staying up into the early morning writing silly little things, trying to keep my viewership up because that’s what I enjoyed doing, but it came at a price that I didn’t want to pay. I became stressed, tired and drained. I pushed my other hobbies aside just to write, to make people happy. Once I realized that I was growing an unhealthy habit, I took a moment to breathe and today, I updated a book I’ve been writing after 2 months of being absent from my account, and the sheer amount of love that I got within the first 10 minutes showed me that, no matter where you go, what you do, how long you take and what you make people will always be there for you. It doesn’t matter if you’re gone for a year from this account, my dude. Rather than thinking “people won’t watch this channel anymore” consider how many of us will be ecstatic to see an update from you. We all love you, and some of us know this pain all too well. I know you said that this video was just friendly banter to you, but I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with this topic. Love you dude, we’ll see you whenever we see you. I think the best thing about using any social media platform is the creativity and self expression. RU-vid in particular is a platform where you can find videos of ANYTHING. There's literally videos that range from paranormal activity to tutorials on how to make a grilled cheese sandwich. It's definitely easy to get caught up in fine tuning your content to reach a target audience, but with your vast array of hobbies, I think you've reached many different groups of people. There's some people that probably have no idea that you're in a kickass metal band, but they needed tips on what lenses to buy. On the other hand, there's people that are fans of the band that check out your camera content, which might inspire them to dip into photography as a new hobby. Nobody should ever be upset with you for producing content that you're happy with.

I’m grateful for your tips. I love photographing concerts and supporting my friends on music video shoots when I get the chance. I find long exposure especially fascinating, I never know how the moment will be captured and what lights have been frozen. It has an artistic feeling for me and so my camera is a little art surprise box for me. But I also understand the inner struggle. I don't know why I prefer to hide my work even though I get good reviews. Inspiring is your great understanding of settings and focus for the subject in the image or frame. I love the details, the color look and the bokeh. Do what you enjoy it is your quality time not consistent quantity time.

I have the same problem as there is so many things that I know I can explore. I learn some where ounce that there are 4 questions that you can ask yourself at the end of the day and after 30 days you will know the answer. What excited you? What drained you of your energy? What are grateful for? What made you jealous? And you will see a very common thread afterwards 😊

Ricky, I don't find your videos to be cringey, more informative than anything else: Coffee-making lessons, advice on camera usage etc. And I enjoy watching them. If you want to change things up.....talk to Vinny, lol. I invited him to come play underwater with us sometime (i.e. scuba diving) on ShipRocked. That'll give you a whole new perspective. 🙂

I've loved you and your content since the get-go Ricky, if it takes you longer to put out a video than so be it. I'd rather you take longer and feel proud of your work, than to beat yourself up for not putting out weekly content. I want to see YOU, what makes YOU happy, and whatever you want to share with us. i think it’s important to make content that you enjoy first and foremost. and i think it’s safe to say in this day and age of social media and technology, getting stuck in numbers and interactions is a one way ticket to going off the rails. do ya thing, king 💜

What I’ve learned throughout my own life is you have to do things that make “you” happy. Unfortunately numbers and content of the “mainstream” media creates restraints for people being themselves and creating their own art. Be yourself and do not change to what people “want” you to become. We follow you for who you are and your art. That’s what it’s all about. ❤

Rick, you know what… My thoughts are hard-swallowed, but I need to say something really important. You kind of save me. Not literally (still depends on the edge), of course, but it’s not a main point here. There’s a terrible war in my country, my every fucking day is full of death, rage, fear, happiness, grief, it’s really chaotic life, from day to day it seems to be last. And living like this more than year I ended up forgetting everything. Forgot about goals, about peaceful and calm mornings, about pitch dark nights without thoughts “please, not now, NOT NOW”, I forgot that I’m exist . Frustrated, exhausted, lost. I forgot I’m alive, can you imagine that? Watching your videos and listening to your old podcasts regain the sense of my own heartbeat. It happened accidentally, randomly recommend contend on YT, and now, after two weeks I understand that I’m alive again, the desire to continue moving came back to me. Analysing everything that have happened, I try not to cry, the power of realization is truly painful. But I’m so grateful to you and your content, saved streams, podcasts, everything you do. It makes me feel I can overcome everything.

Ricky, I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say I love to see your content in any form. So what if you don’t upload once a week? Live and create the way you want. I like production and behind the scenes stuff and gear breakdowns (because I've worked in media production and I'm a nerd), but I also really love seeing people lean into creative projects.

Honestly, I started following you (and MIW in general) when I was like 13, so 8 years ago now. I found out about your channel not too long ago and getting to see you on YT is still surreal to me. It's great to see what you do outside of the band and getting to know who you are or what you like. More complex story telling is amazing, but I think we all also enjoy the ''filler'' videos as you call them. Whatever it is, whatever you want to do, we'll watch happily. No need to get caught up in numbers and strict schedules, just go with the flow, do what makes you happy and we'll tune in, no matter what it is.

I giggled so much during this. Taking your internal dialogue and putting it into something familiar, such as humor, is honestly a fantastic way to hear yourself better. I was intrigued in seeing the title and the header, and this whole video… wow. It might sound weird said out loud, but I feel like for the past few videos, (gear review, tour updates and mostly the live you did the other day) we get a glimpse of a… turning point? I feel so grateful to be here right now in this community you’re building to witness this growth and evolution you’re going through. Even though I know that in the end this video is exactly like your message; a skit a bit closer to the stories you want to tell and more light-hearted than not, but I feel like it mustn’t have been easy to voice nonetheless and I’m so glad you finally have a clearer idea of where you want to go. I really like the vibe of this one, the uncanny-ness of the TV guy and the overall quality of the video itself… Really cool, and I hope to see more of those!!!
