PRIZE DRAW! :D Im torn between the sci-fi and the cavern tiles. When I was using your original tiles, I would've loved a cavern tiles. But the sci-fi are executed so well. I'm excited to see either way, Kristian!
I've got two more videos to get done (a bonus video for the previous wood textures, and one for some floor tile variants), and I'll then be moving onto the caves. After that ...who knows where this will lead.
Prize draw, also, the dungeon tiles have so much potential but the cave tiles look amazing, so do the sci-fi ones, but i think the cave tiles look the best.
Prize draw! As for what to do next.. I would have use for either one really, though I'm more likely to carve cave tiles myself rather than using printed pieces, the sci-fi ones I'd be very likely to use the printed technique, and our only real regular campaign right now is sci-fi.. though I'm in the middle of making a regular dungeon set (Wyloch style-ish) at the moment, go figure. So personal desire would be sci-fi, but yours is a creative endeavor and you'll get the best result with your graphics if you design the type you're most excited about at that moment. I guess I wasn't much help, eh?
I think outdoor stuff would be a little harder to do in this style ...but I do have an idea for small ruins using some of the existing textures (so I should probably do a bonus video on that at some point :) ).
I agree, I tend to use 2D top-down view art from Dundjinni or somewhere like that right now. I really want to try and figure out how to do a large tent, like a military command tent or something.
"PRIZE DRAW" I would like to see the cave system...I think that would be a good transition from dungeon tiles even show a combination of the two used together...love the vids and keep up the great work...
Prize Draw. Thanks for the video, love the channel and I'm so glad to see you attracting more viewers. Hopefully it will snowball for you from here on!
I'm far from done with the dungeon :) ...but I think we've now got enough textures to build most of the basics (or we will have after the next couple of videos), and so I thought it would be nice to start work on another environment (most likely the caves) to change things up a little.
Prize draw! I have to say there aren't that many good sources for sci-fi stuff. As a suggestion, I haven't seen a single thing with modern tiles for games like Shadowrun
Prize Draw Also, I am interested in the cave tiles, but in addition, I was trying to create some published maps for D&D with your tiles, and I ran into one problem. Since you leave half a tile space where the walls open, you end up creating an extra square, that isn't there in the maps. Not usually a problem, but sometimes it can cause things to line up incorrectly. Do you have any thoughts on this? I know creating published maps with the tiles is not your first priority, but I hope to take advantage of your tiles as much as possible. Thanks for the great content, keep it up!
Recreating a published adventure is always going to be a bit tricky ...but I guess the best thing to do is to just try and get the overall feel right, rather than trying to replicate it exactly (i.e. so long as a 'long hallway' looks reasonably long, that's all that really matters - the same can be said for 'large rooms' or 'small chambers' and so on). However, the main problem with most maps (especially building maps) is when they have rooms with adjoining walls like areas F & G in this example: 4.bp.blogspot.com/-mczRF7QKxeo/Tu8jIIya4PI/AAAAAAAAApk/-T5XyqpjcTU/s1600/dun_2011_51.jpg ...and I don't know if there is a real solution to that when using a 1" grid - save for making the rooms slightly smaller (which means you'll not be able to fit the same amount of mini's inside - which might be a bit of an issue) ...or redesigning the whole thing ahead of time :(
The solution i had for that was to create rooms (in this case f and g) without the wall that would be shared, and just using the wall from the hall way as the same wall, Then you have the f and g room tiles, and they are easily used together with others like it to create larger rooms if you need. I appreciate the response, I also just went with the general feel of the map. I really appreciate your work. Maybe one more suggestion? More floor patterns that do not have 1 inch demarcations, like you were saying you have for the cave. That way it can be used more with games that do not allow remeasuring.
