A video a week is good going, quality not quantity. Thanks for the update.

I tried my H3 with AIOC. I could not get PTT to activate, but Chirp worked for programming, so I know the pin is connected. 🤷‍♂️ Edit: TEHRS is 1:00 pm CDT (central daylight time). Ask me again when daylight savings goes away.

I realize that there are no major manufacturers like Icom, Yaesu, etc. making radios in Norway, but if you ever get the chance to review something made in Norway it would be greatly appreciated! It could be as simple as a 3-D printed wire winder made by a ham in his basement. You have the perfect channel to showcase what hams in Norway are doing. 🙂

@@JohnTarbox You know what, I have actually done that. Is the LB6CI EFHW any good? QRP Portable with the LB6CI EFHW ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ydcHrVvGJ5U.html

Great update. Maybe switch to one per week, but have a few videos in reserve, so you can take a week off when you need time out. Chris 2E0FRU

I usually have three or four videos in the back log at any time, especially for that reason.

I think fewer bettert videos are a good thing, or it becomes another job. I would have thought one every two weeks would be enough, it will build up your video catalogue. I have no idea how you manage to do what you do. Well done Morten. I'll send you a Ground Plane disk for that anetnna.

The problem with sponsored product reviews is that the reviewer is expected to create a positive review, i.e. the product should be portrayed in a positive light. In case of a bad product, the reviewer is supposed to either not publish the review or omit the largest negative points. If the manufacturer or dealer is not happy with the result, the reviewer might not get any more products from them in the future. This is well known for e.g. apple products, and many youtubers have already talked about it. Recently, this has become a thing in the ham radio community as well. I have seen many overly positive and relatively low-effort sponsored reviews of ham radio products in the last couple of months. To me, as a viewer, this makes things more difficult as the SNR of my youtube experience is now lower than it was two years ago.

@@SWL_JO32 That is a really good point, and absolutely something that needs to be addressed. I have myself been guilty of this, and I addressed this back in my last channel update. I might have burned bridges with both B*****od and Re***is for being honest. They simply stopped replying to my emails. This is apparently SOP among the Chinese business community. That being said, my policy is to show products as long as they are relevant to the channel and the audience while being 100% transparent and honest . It is the audience and not the sponsors that help reduce the cost of the channel through ad revenue, superchats, memberships and such and not the free stuff we get from China. It is also worth mentioning that the so called free goods come with a 25% sales tax and an added income tax for me as a Norwegian, so the items are not free by any means. If you then add the software licenses, recording gear and such, my $100 monthly revenue from RU-vid does not last long. Most of us make RU-vid videos because we’re passionate about what we’re doing and not for any financial gain.

Thank you very much for your dedication to honest reviews! I think financial support from the community is the best solution to the dilemma described. And to be fair, it is not all negative: there are also some positive experiences with small vendors/manufactures that really listen to reviewers and really try to fix issues that have been found.
@LB0FI
@LB0FI Месяц назад
@@SWL_JO32 There are absolutely vendors who listen to the reviews. A very good example of this is my recent review of the Dudetenna.
