EDIT: Good lord y'all. "Chaos" is being used sarcastically. Try to calm down. Oct 26, 2011 - NAVONA GALLEGOS riding VATRICIA in the Adult Open Jumper short course falls, horse runs wild and free-jumps a water obstacle backwards.
The old man was my husband, Jay Shuttleworth, horseman, famous bit maker and love of my life. He had ridden every kind of horse good and bad his whole life, trained them, showed them, taught and later in life made custom bits for everyone, including the international teams - you can read articles about him if you look him up. I found this clip by accident - he had always been the one to throw himself into a dangerous situation to help with a horse and it lit my heart to see him still trying to do this just about a year before he had to stay home permanently because of early Alzheimers. I love that you all noticed him - thank you. Jay died in 2019.
The horse recognized the Senior gentle gentleman's energy as calm , assertive and kind. The seniors guiding the juniors. Beautiful example of love and compassion 🙏💜
I agree. I had tears watching him. He goes to the horse's shoulder, not its head and you can bet he was talking to it a calming voice. And did anyone else notice how the horse jumped that jump far better without rider or bridle?
For all angry that the horse could have gotten tangled- he was spooked! It isn't the rider's fault and it isn't the horse's fault. The horse tripped unexpectedly, the rider fell, the bridle came of and pony got spooked. So he ran. That's what horses do.
This is why they're called accidents because nobody is to blame. Could it have been prevented? Why sure it could have, just as most accidents could be avoided, if only,... you fill in whatever fits. Courses are meant to be tough and hard to navigate for the Open Jumper competitions. They test a riders skills and timing abilities to the max. A rider should know their surfaces in order to avoid such a spill, but then there are always those anyway. Always will be.
Just found this clip now. First thoughts were of the lovely elderly man that seemed to calm this horse down instantly. He even walked away leaving others with all the glory. What a man !! Rest in Peace, no doubt tending to horses in the heavens. My horses are up there so maybe he is💞
She is a great rider, this fall had nothing she could prevent also. But I love the horse, when he changed direction he also changed leads, he was like "now mommy says when we go this way we have to be on the right lead so I will change"
charina All falls are caused by the rider, she must have done a minor slip up that caused the horse to get nervous, she is a good rider she just messed up, I mean hey a little fall never hurt anybody, unless your a wimp I guess
Shame :/ She was having a beautiful round too. It could have been a lot worse though and it's just one of those things you have to move on from. I knew something was going to go wrong from the title but the round was going so well that I thought I had clicked on the wrong video. That was really unexpected and I hope she didn't take it too hard.
I know, I've never competed before, but it was looking good to me. It took a while for the 'chaos' to happen so I was wondering if something bad was going to happen or not or if it was just the horse's name!
Yes I was trying to figure out which fence it would be since her round was going so well, then that unfortunate stumble happened. Anyone who actually rides knows stuff like this happens, generally when you least expect it :) It wasn't "chaos". The horse was pretty laid back even when dealing with the bridle. That's the only thing that gave me a few bad moments.
I Love how when the horse spooked and bolted, they didn’t try to chase or corral him/her! They just let the horse run itself down and once it calmed down, they slowly approached it ♥️
My heart stopped for a moment when I saw him starting to get tangled in the bridle. So happy he managed to get free, and didn't suffer any (apparent) injuries. Also glad that the rider was okay.
Beautifully ridden, talented jumper... was heading for a perfect trip, and boom Sad. I always hold my breath watching jumping in indoor arenas. Courses are tight and the footing can be slippery. Glad no one got hurt.
Poor girl! Such a beautiful round too! Nothing was her or the horses fault! I hope that neither you or the horse was hurt, but I think that bridle might need a bit of a clean...
Dude, the horse tripped. She is a real rider. She was doing fine. The horse lost balance, that's like me saying "oh if you were a REAL human you wouldn't have tripped and fell on your face!" People fall, animals fall, it happens . It has absolutely nothing to do with how good you are. Mess ups HAPPEN. So stop gatekeeping.
Valentina the horse TRIPPED. She wasn’t “too fast.” That was an incredible round and you clearly don’t know what a good rider is if you think she is bad
This was handled extremely well, in my opinion. Everyone stayed quite and didn't try to stop the spooked horse, the let it run itself out, then, they calmly gathered it up. It's always nice to see people that understand horses and how to be responsible around them, if that hadn't been the case, the horse probably would've spooked more and gotten injured. Props to everyone there!
No offense but their are way to many uneducated people on this site. If anyone didn't already notice, I'm almost positive that this rider was using a hackamore, yes I've seen jumpers using them so don't say that they are either illegal or never used in this level of show jumping or sj in general. People saying that this horse spooked at something is completely false, it was a minor stumble and he got right back up and even proceded to jump another fence. And people who are commenting saying that the rider is an idiot for askin her horse to make that sharp of a turn is also false, in show jumping you need to make tight turns no matter what, and they get tighter and tighter as you proceed through the different levels. This horse was clearly capable of making that sharp of a turn, or else it would have been much more drastic if he wasn't. This is in no way chaos, nor a rider error, the horse stumbled and the rider fell off, and the horse even proceeded to jump another fence because he knows what his job is and enjoys it, or else he wouldn't have done what he did. It is no ones fault, it's simply and error and an accident, it happens.
@@susanflowers7425 hunny. its a horse. theres a reason they use SAND AND SHOES in the show ring. a horse of this caliber, can have scope up to 2m. (if you even know what scope is?? considering you know n o t h i n g.)
That elderly gentleman was such a calming presence to the horse. The rider appeared to be ok physically, thank goodness, and I hope the horse was, too.
I love horses so much ❤. Did I just see that horse take a jump by himself? What beautiful animals that they are! Nice to see everyone comforting the horse.
liz goesviral the horse was more like "shit, was is this thing under me, chassing me". He was a littel bit in Panic. It's normal and good that nothing happend :)
I have watched this clip or video twice over again...I am glad the Horse & the ride is ok...it is amazing that my horses always stood there ground when I came off not once did they run off they always stood by me and nudged me to see if I was ok horses are such Spiritual and Loving
Oh bless. They were doing such a beautiful round. Just took that turn too tight and they slipped over. They may have recovered, had the bridle not slipped and panicked him.... sweet how the old boy calmed him and brave of him to enter the arena knowing such a large horse was frightened and excitable, yet he just shuffled upto him, put his hand on him and thus allowing another person to 'catch' the horse. Some people really have a natural touch with them. My nan was the same. Xx
I'm pretty sure words like "Chaos" are relative anyways. On the girl's point of view that was probably a huge event for her, so for something as simple as that to go wrong, must have been pretty chaotic. Nevertheless, there's no reason for people to be freaking out so much about it xD
Because saying things that are not true in your title are a form of dishonesty, and tacit acceptance of dishonesty as normal in social media ruining our politics, our economies, our health, our climate, and our lives.
I love this horse! A great rider too - the horse wasn't tense at all, and recovered very well from the panic of being entangled. So many times we see horses absolutely loose their minds when things go wrong, switch to total wild prey behaviour, and gallop like mad through, over, under and on top of obstacles and people, injuring or killing themselves in the process. This is an indication to me that the horse has been under pressure, and there's no bond of trust between mount and rider or driver. So this is really lovely to see and absolutely not chaos!
I have to say, this is anything but chaos. All involved behaved beautifully. Rider, calm, waiting out her horse knowing the bridle is freaking him out, horse going around the course to settle and in the meantime shakes free the bridle, then trots to exit, all done let's go, and elderly gentleman coming out to keep him there and horse responding in kind. Perfect reactions all around.
The horse must have known the old man. That's why he turned around and went to him. That shows respect and love on the horses part, and a gentle voice on the part of the old man. Love it.
Ines Aboal Barreiro Very touching. You can see how smart the horse is and how wonderful the connection with the man. Gives me faith in the human horse bond.
That older gentleman had the magic touch. He calmed that horse down immediately with a touch . . . from a hand on a human who houses LOVE within himself in a CRAZY WORLD.
Awhh what a sweetie :) she's a lucky girl! It was obviously an accident people, no ones fault so no need for the ignorant blame game. And that's funny it was a English hackamore, I thought bitters bridal we're illegal! I think they should be allowed, anyways it was pure luck for horse and rider here. Great and entertaining round :)
Goodness all the hateful comments. I just enjoyed seeing the horse jump so effortlessly and glad the rider wasn't injured. Thank you so much for sharing a precious part of your memories. A widow too. You were very generous. Thank you again and God bless you.
What a sweet horse!! Definitely not chaos. The fall wasn’t too bad bc she fell close to the ground and the bridal got a little tangled between his legs but of course the horse can snap it easy peasy. And plus that adorable old man 😭❤️
I love how that horse jumped all by himself... this proves to people who think that horse jumping is abuse, that the horses actually like it... and will even do it on their own!!!😂 P.S those flying lead changes all by himself... OMG!!😍
That ring is so difficult to ride in. So small, even on a hunter. I can't even imagine on a jumper! Amazing over the jumps. So sad the horse slipped but glad they were both okay.
I'm sorry but you must not be a horse person if you describe this as chaos. I can't tell you the amount of times this exact Situation happens in shows and lessons alike.... this kind of stuff happens to almost every rider
For everyone going on about this rider, can just point out a few things I noticed. 1. CONGRATULATIONS ON USING A HACKAMORE! BRAVO 👏 👏 👏 2. I don't see an issue with the bridle coming off 🤷♀️ If he did get his leg caught, it would break. And definitely less pain than what a bit would be imposing over the whole course. 3. She DID NOT pull it off his face! Yes she didn't let go of the reins straight away but sorry that's natural. We all try to save ourselves in the moment! 4. He shook it off the rest of the way. So do you know what that means? It has been put on CORRECTLY! Bridles/Hackamores are NOT ment to be on so tight that they don't come off. When they are to tight, that's when they restrict the horses natural movement to be able to do what they need. Especially in jumping. Bloody good horse & Bloody great rider 🥰
I thought it looked likena hackamore but wasn't 100%. That horse must be amazing to do those jumps and tight turns in just a hackamore probably works more off leg and is really good at yielding to pressure.
