On February 17, 2024, an Eau Claire County Sheriff's deputy was monitoring traffic at a known drug hotspot motel in Eau Claire, WI, and observed a vehicle leaving the lot. It was discovered the female driver's license was suspended and she was flagged with a "Be On the Lookout" alert. Upon learning she was going to jail, she slipped out of her handcuffs in the squad car and wreaked havoc.

Would it be better for society to pay for her to sit in jail for longer? It sounds like she was making efforts to hold down a job and make changes. I think it's better for society to have her do 80 hours of community service cleaning roads or whatever and maybe keep a job, as opposed to paying her room and board in county lockup for a month before releasing a person that has no job and few resources to get one.

I saw her pull her arms from the officer after exiting the car, but she never attempted to hit an officer. If she had but been unsuccessful, then you would see the blow blocked somehow, but all she did was forcefully pull her arm across her chest. Also "make me" isn't threatening an officer, it implies they will have to use physical force against her as she will resist. Police use force all the time without being assaulted, mostly to get a suspect to put their hands behind their back, sometimes the officer will even throw blows, but that still isn't assaulting an officer.

What the kids “made up”? I checked it out. It’s that over a period of nine years, she prostituted two of her children out in return for meth. The case went to trial but was ultimately dropped because it was too difficult for the victim to continue-not because anyone involved didn’t think it happened. Love the heart of the officer. The car doesn’t have insurance, has weed in the car, and was being driven by the lady without a license. She just went berserk and took a swing at him. He has every right and reason to tow the car but still gives the keys to her friend and says, “we’re not gonna look.” He still had sympathy for her overall situation, despite the fact she continues to dig herself a deeper hole. He doesn’t add to it out of spite or malice. What a great example of maintaining composure, de-escalation, and compassion in policing! ❤❤

That's a probation violation, hitting an officer, driving suspended license, no insurance, etc but the DA won't revoke and put her in jail on the original charges she was given probation for AND the DA will drop half these new charges and recommend probation even though she's proved she's not a good candidate for probation.

I got my drivers license in 1976 and I would never think about driving a vehicle without insurance, valid registration and an active drivers license. There was a brief period many years ago that I couldn't afford car insurance for about 3 months but I obeyed the law and simply didn't drive my vehicle for 3 months!

Here’s the thing I have a bunch of sympathy for someone just out of prison trying to get their life together… it sucks I’ve seen people go through it first hand, there are legitimate road blocks that are very hard to manage for people genuinely trying to get back on their feet and stay on the straight and narrow… But you lost me when you visited a motel known for selling drugs… that you know you’ve already been trespassed from.🙄

It is really hard. Finding a job or an apartment with a record is near impossible. Getting to a job without a license or insurance is near impossible. Paying for those things without a job is impossible. People make bad choices, then keep making them. Nonetheless, I found this very sad. The police, however, did the very best job they could, treating her with more respect than she deserved.

Did she actually stop, or drive through. What I noticed was a LEO who wouldn't even tell her parole officer that she has a job, and was supposed to work in the morning. That was after they didn't find any drugs in her car, after she cooperated! To me, it looked like the officer was trying to crush her, not give her any chance to improve her life and keep a job, so she could pay her child support and get her license back! I can see why her frustration got the best of her, after all of that!

Holy shit, a women actually getting arrested for not paying child support. My mom still owes my dads 63,680$. She hasn't had anything happen to her. I know she has no valuable assets, so he will probably never see that money in his life time. Maybe when she ODs from her drug habit, we can claim any assets she may have.

Well, she's getting arrested for violating her parole (visiting the drug den hotel) and driving without a license (suspended for child support payments missing). Still good to see some measure of consequences for it, however knock on it may be in this case. Hopefully she'll learn a lesson and pay on time, but I'm doubtful.

If it’s because she hasn’t paid child support, she wouldn’t necessarily know that because they likely mailed something to her last known address but she lives in a car so she probably didn’t get it. When people are suspended for traffic infractions, I tend to believe they know they’ve been suspended. But when it’s a punitive action based on something else entirely (like unpaid child support) I can more easily believe some might not know about it.

Honestly, it can happen, the circumstances are rare but it can happen. I'm a living testament. Back in 1990, I was living in Spartanburg, SC. I received a ticket for running a Red Light. It so happened that I was driving the U-Haul moving from Spartanburg back to Bennettsville, SC, in my hometown. I didn't leave any forwarding address. Six months and another Red Light later. That's when I was informed about my suspension. I told him about the Spartanburg moving day Red Light. We even joked about it. The fine was 10.00 and because of not leaving a forwarded address the letter wasn't delivered that led to the suspension. So you see, it can happen of not knowing that you your DL is suspended. Thanks for reliving my Odyssey. LOL

Because they often will not tell you, you don't even have to be at the court for this to happen. Usually the state's Department of Transportation will send you a notice but that could be weeks or months after the fact.

its roughly middle of the pack for crime and sentencing but its mostly because their police departments have the most body cam footage available that these channels use their footage a lot, there's a reason we barely see like new york & chicago footage even though they have high rates of violent crime, their departments don't give out footage too much
