Yeah, the moment i met Asgore all anticipation to get my ass kicked by a supposed tyrant, from the way Toriel describes him, got transformed into not wanting to do it, and just sadness.

FACTS

@@Duskool for me it was even before that, as more and more characters in the underground revealed Asgore's true nature long before you even met him in person. And in ways that didn't feel at all like a 'this tyrant would kill me if I said anything bad about him' thing either.

@@subprogram32 Well, Asgore was described as nice by the other monsters, but that's the thing, they're monsters, he may be nice to them, but he's gonna still attempt to kill me.

@@Duskool imo Asgore deserved an ass kicking. He, after all, could've gone with what Toriel suggested and never did because he was too much of a coward to just straight up kill humans out of the blue; and now not only 6 more unlucky humans(which would now become gradually more detached from the actual people that cast monsters out) would suffer but also many, MANY more monsters would too, for far longer mind you. Sure, there's the True Pacifist ending, but were it not for the creation of Flowey it would have never happened. So he had it coming too, for being a coward and further prolonging his people's suffering

I mean when you enter Asgore's chamber, it's revealed that he actually DID kill six children (or at least, humans) so uh Though I still don't think he's as bad as the King of Spades even if the King hadn't yet killed anyone... I assume.

@Lavos I unironically believe he's gaster. That line about the knight making jevils perspective "darker, yet darker" is too specific to be a coincidence. And all of the gaster references in the game like gasters theme being remixed into other songs. Yeah that's my bet

Regarding the "threat" to drop Lancer... 1.) When Susie called King out on that in Chapter 2, he says "Your prejudice made my bluff too effective, I see." He's essentially deflecting blame and saying the heroes made the situation seem worse than it actually was, absolving himself of any responsibility for what he did. 2.) He follows up this statement by saying even if he did drop Lancer, he'd just bounce, because he's "a bouncy little pumpkin". This suddenly cute description of Lancer can easily distract people from the fact that he's saying "not that I would do this bad thing, but if I did it wouldn't be THAT bad", which frankly, I find to be a poor rebuttal. 3.) Regardless of all that, this was still a traumatizing situation to put poor Lancer through. Regardless of whether or not Lancer "knew" his dad wouldn't drop him or that he'd survive if he did, King was still using Lancer's life to force his new friends into letting themselves get killed. The way I see it, King is an abusive father, and an important thing to know is that abusive parents can still care about their children and be oblivious to their abuse. Regardless of what happened to King in the past with Lightners, that doesn't justify how he treats his son, in my opinion. As for the "he's a sweet guy if you give him a chance", that has to cut both ways; we don't know what exactly happened with King, maybe his hatred was somehow justified, but if he really is a nice guy deep down he's got to show that he is, and quite frankly, he hasn't been doing a good job at it so far.

I assure you it means absolutely nothing There’s plenty of other Undertale songs he hasn’t touched anyway, it’s just everyone pretty much stopped requesting Undertale after Deltarune came out. Besides, Spider Dance is the only one of those 4 that ever really had anyone caring about it anyway

(Pre chapter 2) Yeah honestly I liked that he was more of a standard roadblock character than a "I'm not the bad guy waah wah" deal. (Post chapter 2) King > Queen any day of the week.

Apparently tho, King used to be a nice guy before the Knight appeared, or else I'm pretty sure Lancer would be just terrified of his dad Also, he said Lancer would just bounce if he dropped him (although that's still manipulation)

He's a villain a right, but the way he serves as a foil to the main cast while still having some motivation to justify his Carnage is what truly elevates him.
