Chaotic 24 Hours in Cairo, Egypt: Our First Impressions 🇪🇬

We are in EGYPT, and we started our travels in the capital city of Cairo. We explored the ruins of Saqqara, toured an Egyptian papyrus paper factory, visited an Egyptian perfumery, rode some camels, and saw the Pyramids of Giza along with the Sphinx. (All the touristy things!) Our first 24 hours in Egypt was nothing short of chaotic (in the best and most memorable way), and we are so excited to share the Egyptian cuisine with you all in the next video! 🇪🇬

I had the opportunity to visit Egypt and stay with a local family at Nazlet El Samman, attend an engagement party and a wedding as well as survive a sand storm. I remember dancing until the wee hours with the kids and loving how everyone knew each other in the little village. Egypt is a gift to this world and so glad you guys got to experience that.

Shawarma is one of the most popular street foods in the world. It originated in Turkey in the 1900s and spread throughout the middle east and Africa. It is now served worldwide. It is fun to check out wherever you find it as it is a bit different each time, Kind of like exploring pizza as you travel. I had my first Shawarma in Paris!

C & C! Awesome you're enjoying Cairo. My time there was similar...very loud, very chaotic, very beautiful and a lot of tea. You will drink a lot of tea throughout the area. It is offered in any shop, location, street corner, you name it. Shawarma! Love them. When I visit family in 'ol Chattanoog! I always hit up Kabob-ster (good Shawarmas, gyros, etc). Looking forward to the next adventure!

Thank you so much for continuing to share your travels with all of us, Claire & Chad! Definitely enjoy watching you travel thru Egypt right now as we’ll be headed there in a couple of months. How did the immigration / passport control process go traveling during the pandemic with some restrictions still in place? Did you need to provide proof of negative PCR test upon arrival? Is proof of travel medical insurance checked by Egyptian authority upon arrival? Thanks in advance for all your insights!

Paper, eh? Okay, if (when!) you come to Korea, this is something you must experience. Korean paper is special, has a very long history, and there are master paper-makers (paperists? paperistos? paperazzi?) who are government supported as living national treasures. Arranging to visit that has to be on your list.
@ChadandClaire

One of the things I find fascinating about Egypt is the belief that the pyramids and Sphinx actually predate the Egyptian civilization. They have studied the structures, and have found that they seem to be marked by heavy rainfall shortly after they were built. A thousand or so years before the Egyptian Civilization, that part of Africa was a rain forest, so they believe it might be some evidence that they were built during that time period.
@JarkkoHietaniemi
@JarkkoHietaniemi 2 года назад
Sorry but this is outright false and bogus. No, there are no rainfall marks in the pyramids. No, there was no rainforest in Egypt, thousand or so years before, or thousands of years before. The pyramids were built by Egyptians, as simple as that. The claim that they didn't reeks of racism.
@steveandyoung
