Rob Chapman tries a Chapman Strandberg. I made a DIY Standberg from a Strat. To be more precise I made a DIY Strandberg from a Chapman ML1 body blank. If you'd like to know how make a Strandberg, watch the DIY Strandberg build video - from Strat to Strandberg,
This Chapman Guitar is roughly shaped like a Strandberg and Chappers did a blindfold challenge and could tell it was a 'Strandberg' style guitar due to the 3 sided neck. Once Chappers took his blindfold off I revealed this Strandberg was actually a Chapman ML1.

Right!? If it was me testing the guitar and they asked me what I think the pickups are, I'd just reply with: "Yeah, they're guitar pickups". And I've been playing for 15+ years lmao. Chappers ears are out of this world.

Just the regular old school reactionary mindset, Chapman makes perfectly playable guitars, but Strandberg make genuinely innovative boutique guitars, Chappers doesn't want to admit that maybe new is in fact better. Like when he started complaining about the Strandberg ergonomic neck design

Never seen him use his magic ears in person. Absolutely no idea how he does it. There’s a video soon where he works out what’s in all my guitars, and all my guitars have strange things going on 😂

I genuinely want that guitar. I like it some much more than the OG honestly. If there was an ML1 kit that made this easy (or just this body kit) then I would 100% buy it.

Your finished guitar is much better looking than the Stranberg (sp?). The whole headless / chopped up deal, is not my cup of team, but that finished color is gorgeous. Really well done.

That thing looks *great* :) Having an organic-feeling body carve rather than a slab is surely always better? Leaving a functional collar above the nut so it can be hung is a no-brainer. Love the whole getting creative with the pups thing too. People would 100% buy these imho. But then I'm a bass man, not a guitarist, so I may be wrong.... but I doubt it!! ;) Great work - kudos.

i actually like the body shape more than the og strandberg too and its definitely because its an arch top. Interesting.... I actually prefer headless guitars a looooot more when the frets arent fanned too.

Please, Rob, make this guitar with a very thin D shaped Wizard-style neck and regular neck humbucker! If it weighs below 2.5kg I'll buy two. The extra legrest is also essential.

I did consider using a capo to hold a flip flop where the headstock would be. When I was making this, I did consider leaving the old headstock in place but the guitar was unbalanced so I can see why they remove it.
