In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

***** maybe he is a good "sci-fi visualist". He still has to learn to write a script that doesn't seem out from a 13 year old. District 9 is the less stupider from the 3, BY FAR.

Loved this film and watching this makes me want to see it again! PS I love that Chappie is mocap...it makes it easier for the other actors to be in the scenes with someone to act off of instead of looking at a ping pong ball on the end of a stick.

Interestingly, they didn't mocap. He used a gray suit with capture markers, but only around the joints. He was basically traced for reference after the roto. The gray gives you lighting reference, the joint markers give you a teensy bit of articulation, but basically Chappie was keyframe animated throughout. Your point stands, though! Having Sharlto on set was undoubtedly essential for the other performers.

9:14 wow look all that fragments, and the whole crew and actors actually have to stand right in the range of explosion! You can see how the boom man has to duck to avoid those

I feel like this movie started with alot of ideas with big casting then when the cut came around they centered it more on chappie and his relationships so alot got axed. Like segourney did not need to be there and although Hugh is Hugh and nailed his role his talent felt gigantic compared to what he was given. Still a great film and one of few I sincerely desire a sequel to

i seriously dont understand why this movie didnt get alot of good reviews its genuinely my favourite movie, ever since i was a kid. i mean for goodness sakes my favourite actor is in it, they shouldve just made a second movie i really wouldve loved to see how it turned out. also all of THAT with NO green screen??? thats insane.

Just watch this and realised it's a spiritual reboot of District 9... Anyway, it's a 9/10 for me. What took the final point away was the bad/amateur use of slow-mo during the climax.

Philipp Benedikt She's a stills photographer. Probably publicity photos. It's a normal stills camera with a big black soundproof case surrounding it. The purpose is to silence the camera shutter noise so it won't be picked up by actor's microphones or boom mic.

vfthb098 are you sure about this? look inside the barrel it is all dusty and bricky there also when he puts one in a tiny peace falls apart and i dont think that foam would do that

2salzig2spucknapp It's probably dusty in there so that a smoke cloud comes up when the fire it off. Styrofoam is really fragile too so pieces can break off easily.
