Hello everyone! I am Dr Demilade Fayemiwo and I am sharing my AS Biology notes in chronological order to help students prepare for their Cambridge AS Biology examinations by recording notes from my classroom. In this introductory video, I start with cells the basic unit of life, introduce students to the concept of magnification and resolution and also get you started with practising unit conversions for cell measurements. I also explain how microscopes work and share some of the features plants and animal cells have in common. I hope you enjoy it! Hello Bilal, I'm glad you like the channel. I hope you share it with your friends and colleagues. For consistency, try to set a weekly timetable of maybe 1.5 hours to watch videos for a particular chapter and another 2 hours for practicing past questions (if you are preparing for the exam). Hope you have a pleasant time.

Yes, you definitely can. It depends on how dedicated you are. An approach students who are pressed for time often use is to watch the videos I have uploaded for each chapter and then answer past questions on that chapter. It builds up your understanding quickly and helps you identify what you may or may not know.

Hi Dr. Demi, I have a question for you, with the light microscopes why is it 10x10 which makes 100 and not 10x+10x making it 20x or for the 40x+10x eye piece which makes it 50x. please help me understand this. Thank you

That's because with magnification, you are multiplying the size of the image by those numbers.
