In this video, I discuss factors such as temperature, pH, substrate concentration and enzyme concentration that affect enzyme activity. I also discuss how to derive the km value from the graph of enzyme activity as well as how to interpret the meaning of the km value. This video offers an explanation of how different factors affect enzyme activity and is suitable for students who are preparing for CAIE / CIE / Cambridge /AS level Biology examinations.

Mam, can you make one sample solved paper on the channel, so we can learn how to write them or practical details. BTW your videos help a lot in my as level.

Ms, what kind of questions would come from Vmax and Km? Just calculations that determine those values?

hello. so can we define enzyme affinity as the speed atw hich a specific enzyme works?
@biowithdrdemi
@biowithdrdemi 2 года назад
No, that would be the rate of reaction in a loose sense. The affinity is the strength of attraction between the enzyme and the substrate. A high strength of attraction leads to a higher rate of reaction

With a denatured enzyme (CHANGED IN SHAPE). Can't the induced fit mechanism be applied for reaction to take place....(cause n enzyme can modify itself for the substrate to fit in for reaction)
@biowithdrdemi
@biowithdrdemi Год назад
No it can't. A denatured enzyme is one that can not longer conduct any of form of reaction or modify itself.

Hello ma'am,how substrate concentration affects enzyme activity? Couldn't understand from video.

If there were 5 people who can catch 1 ball every 5 second and certain number of people throwing a ball at them the more people throwing the ball there is the more balls the catchers would catch If there's 1 thrower and 5 catcher (thrower is substrate, catcher is enzyme) then the catch rate will be really slow If there's 5 or more thrower and 5 catcher it would be at max speed (Vmax)

Hey doctor Demibin the new syllabus they talk about cofactors and inhibitors but you don't could you please cover them
@biowithdrdemi
@biowithdrdemi Год назад
The video chapter 3.3 is about enzyme inhibition. Cofactors are molecules that help enzymes fulfill their functions as catalysts.

Why do we call enzymes globular proteins?
@biowithdrdemi
@biowithdrdemi Год назад
Because their hydrophobic groups point inwards while their hydrophilic groups point outwards, forming a spherical/globular shape

You will need to know the Vmax.
