After students complete this chapter and the related course work, they will be able to describe and apply, in context, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), including describing command and general staff roles. Additionally, they will be able to describe various specialized components of establishing incident command and its inherent responsibilities. This chapter also describes the importance of using the incident command system (ICS) in hazmat incidents and setting up EMS branch operations.
