This is very gripping, and I can't wait to have it in my hands! BTW, the automated subtitles translated "secrets" as "suitcase." So now you have The Suitcase of Hartwood Hall in case you need an idea for the sequel.

I will say to you exactly what I said to my husband, who agreed. 1) Excellent Reading! It gave me the same feels as the narrator in a really good movie adaptation of a Victorian book. 2) You can tell that you submerged yourself in Victorian literature and history. This did not feel like a book inspired by Victorian literature but an actual Victorian book!

I absolutely loved the first paragraph especially - I really felt like I was rattling along at dusk. And all the questions - how was it that she wasn’t a good wife? How creepy and atmospheric it is with all the locks on the door and the movement in the forest. And how wonderful that Mrs Lennox is hard of hearing. I did manage to pre-order a hardback although I had to go into the shop to do it - can’t wait to read it in March!

Haha I know, and the reading here is the actual speed I read it at, unlike my usual videos where I have to digitally slow them down. I can read slowly, but when I'm talking naturally I just find myself speeding up!

Brilliant! I am so happy for you and can't wait to read your book. When I was in high school in Queens NY, our literature teacher, Mrs. Rothschild, would sometimes read classic literature to the class in her beautiful British accent. It has not lost its charm. God bless and good luck. Also, if you make an audio book, which I hope you do, please read it yourself. Only the artist truly knows where to place emphasis and inflection.

There will be an audiobook but not narrated by me - it will be read by the amazing Olivia Vinall, though, who is hugely talented and has a fantastic voice. I'm not a professional and would very much have struggled to read the whole audiobook! I did go into the studio to listen to the audiobook being recorded though, and she's done just an amazing reading of the book.
