Quick trick I use spray vinegar with lemon juice then let the grill get very hot and use dawn soap with baking soda comes out brand spanking new if u don't have baking soda that's fine but trust me the baking soda eats the dirt n grime n also makes a huge difference.
I like coming across a regular guy’s video and point of view when I’m researching a new purchase as I believe this is the grill I’ll get. I got more from this one video than the last five polished professional (paid promoter) made “commercials” thanks
Char broil products seem to be the best consumer grade grilling equipment available. I was given an old patio bistro electric… it was in bad shape & worked for about a year. I just replaced the element and fixed a ground fault in the controller… it’s 10 years old… cooks fantastic.
Bacon wrapped fillets and crab stuffed mushrooms? You guys eat like royalty. It's 10pm on a Tuesday in Florida and just fired up my grill for some burgers because of this video. Thanks.
The water blaster...yesssss! Thought I was the only one did that, but hell.. saves sooo much time! Soon as they dry...rub them over with some cooking oil and place back in the grill.
I found you by searching the Char-Broil grill I just bought, and stayed for the tips. Now, here's a tip for you: Blue cheese stuffed and bacon wrapped mushrooms! Those are a fan favourite here in Finland!
My Infrared CharBroil didn't use the cast iron grates, you cooked directly on the Infrared panels. I loved it at first but found the grates had to be cleaned too often. The instructions said to just set everything on high and burn it off but that just didn't work. After about three years the grates were completely rusted out and too expensive to replace, if bought individually the replacement grates were almost as much as a new grill. I just put a regular grate on it and used it for a few more years.
there is a tool inside the door that will scrape those grates. I take an old box or garbage sack, set it inside and just give it a scrape, all good. (you can also put them upside down after you scrape and let them cook 5 mins on high to clean them up more.
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina ya been sitting on this BBQ for about a month making sure shes the one i want. i just finished the backyard interlock with some older stones so i figured i'd get the pressure washer to clean it up. so i made the order last night and then jumped online to see what youtubes got and this video just made me feel like im supposed to be doing exactly what im doing lol
I tell you what Never thought of using the power washer to clean the grates. Can you make another video when you grill fajitas I'd like to see how that comes out
My charbroil commercial infrared rotted out in 3 years. Fire box, infrared, burners, anti flare plates. All rotted. Thermometers and igniter quit after three months. Rebuild cost would be about 50% of a new grill..
This grill is rusted very quickly. entry level quality that is what you get. if it lasts 2 years at the usage you do, its done its job. want something for life ? buy heavy duty proven brand.
Am I the only person who noticed how rusted the grates are after 15 months? I am here because my 7 year old char broil grates are rusted to hell, I'm getting stainless steel for the next one, too high maintenance for the extra cost
maybe should get some knowledge first how to season your cast iron grates.... pretty easy to do, burn everything off .... let it cool down and rob with some oil. burn remainings off to get that patina going again. And never ever use a hard brush like stainless steel on that.
No way I am eating anything that came out of that.. clean it properly the hood and sides are greasy, also looks kind of rusted on the back edge.. 304 stainless?
Yeah they 2 years old and still working. If you like flare ups by something else. If you like perfectly cooked Ribeye's without flames burning your meat then get one of these.
I almost puked 🤢. Jeez there are cobwebs hanging from the warming rack . Pressure washing those greasy grates on your patio floor. I can’t imagine what the inside of your house would look like 🐷🐽🐷
It would still look pretty new if you wiped it down and cleaned it after you’ve made a mess. Also recommend using a vegetable canola or peanut oil to keep the cooking grates seasoned and clean. They wouldn’t be rusted if you did that and a lot of the food wouldnt stick like that. Those are made of cast iron and should be treated much like a cast iron skillet. If you can’t/won’t do the regular maintenance or clean it after every use then buy a grill with stainless grates.
I’ve had a char broiler commercial for 15 years. It’s not an infrared but it’s been very good. As long as you take good care of it, it will last a long time. The commercial series also gets you Lifetime replacement burners.
I have a char broil grill and to keeps things from flaming up I put a sheet of heavy aluminium foil on the grill. I also punch holes between the burners to keep the grease from flaring up. I would put a hole in the front and one on the rear. When I am threw all I have to do is wrap the foil up and throw it away. The grill stays clean for the most part.
Yup, same here. I don’t know how I made it through life without it! Whether steak, chicken, vegetables or whatever I throw in it, the thing just does amazing. The flavor is always impeccable and I just can’t wait to use it each time.
I have a 6 year old 2-burner Tru infrared model and it cooks as good as day 1. The Z-grillls are due for a change soon. It gets up to temp very fast, cooks the outside perfectly without drying up and the juices fall into the tray and sizzle off adding extra flavor to whatever you're cooking without messing up the burners or fire box. The burners are mint after 6 years which I've never seen in a grill. This bbq was originally $179 when I got it on special... Incredible value.
It’s good you clean the emitter plates but if you want them to last long and not rust then I recommend seasoning them every time you clean them with the high pressure washer aka put high heat oil on them. Also why don’t you have a thermometer to check meat temp? That ruins the one you cut in half to check if it’s done.
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina lol well then use the thermometer for the steak instead of cutting it to check. You didn’t let it rest for 5 min. Ruined that one piece you cut into. But definitely season your emitters after you pressure wash them so they don’t rust!
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina I appreciate your effort, but power washing grill grates is a sign that they are hard to clean. I’ve looked at these at Lowe’s / Home Depot and always wonder about how to clean the grates. Unlike the traditional grates where foods just fall down, with these, the foods are more likely to get stuck and it seems a hassle to clean them, compared to the traditional grates.
I don’t understand. Mine smokes so bad it looks like my house is on fire. Everything tastes like smoke and smells like smoke. I am really unhappy. What am I doing wrong?
Think it's cuz it's easier if you heat it first, but when yo're done cooking the food, it's time to go eat and you don't want to leave the grill on all that time, so you turn it off. Then, next time you grill, you preheat it to burn some of the stuff and clean it then, before cooking.
The new inferred grills are junk! After using it for a couple of weeks it will start to burn out only to backfire when restarting! It's a known issue that Char broil doesn't want you to know!
I just bought one used, says TRU Infrared but doesn’t have the stainless grates. Only has the cast iron grates. Did I get burned? (Pun intended). Also my father in law has the same grill but only the stainless grates, no cast iron. I’ve never seen them stacked before like on yours. Maybe they make different versions
Tantojutsuninpo same here. I only have the cast iron grates and they are terrible. Anyone know if I can just buy stainless grated and not use the cast iron?
A single chipmunk got inside mine made nests inside Peed all over everything it rusted through it used the side platforms as basis to make more nests because the fire box cover rusted from all the P a hole formed in the squirrel was able to crawl down inside there and leave more knots in acorns in Moss and grass and all other forms of nesting materials my grill is horrific right now and I’m trying to clean it before memorial day I don’t know if I’m going to be able to. And I’m having problems finding replacement parts for this grill on the website
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina unfortunately it's been raining and now snowing so I haven't even got to the seasoning portion of the grill? Hopefully today I'll rough it and get it done!
Years ago when my father in law moved to a smaller house he gave us his big Weber grill, so we bought him one of these for his new place. He passed 12/2018 and gave us this one too. I used it some last year and am giving it a serious shot this season to see if I will use this one or the Weber which needs some internal parts replaced. This Char broil grill is different, works and cooks differently (seems to smoke somewhat too) so I am adjusting to it, and will give it a real good shot as I do want to like this grill but time will tell which one I stick with.
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina Thanks! I know that some of the smoking today was on purpose because I saw that you should spray Canola oil on the plates with the holes in them to "season" them, don't know if my father in law ever did that so I did it as it said you can do it anytime so I did that and let it crank away on high to burn a lot of stuff off. I'll have to see how it operates after doing that.

@@Michaelsbackyardmarina your grates are definitely different then mine with more holes, I wouldnt even be venting on here but the damn thing blew up on my wife last night and then started on fire!
they are stainless emitters, but yes, I coat mine with cooking spray ( I don't powerwash, it's overkill and messy) use the toll inside the door of the grill.
@@Musclford I take the grills and the infrared plates and stick them in the oven in a self clean. Wipe off when done and look new. The infrared look used but the grills are awesome after. I would recommend do that
Absolutely correct on the Weber!! Had my Weber Spirit 310 for 13 years before I had to replace it ( the fire box and lid were still in excellent shape but the metal body finally rusted out) Purchased a new Weber Spirit 310 in June and love it. I guess he has too much pride to admit that grill is junk.🤪
