Hey Tommy, what I've done with my Char Griller Dedicated smoker is, I've swapped out all of the interior screws and bolts, that are steel, black painted, with some STAINLESS STEEL.... this way, when removing heating tray or various other items,, they'll NOT RUST! It's an "expensive upgrade" though, as stainless isn't cheap at the hardware store.... but: WORTH IT! Anytime you need to remove something,,,, you know it's not going to be all rusted/baked on, together..and then strip, or "break",..
Sounds like a pretty good plan. Believe it or not, we have not one but two giant screw stores near by. I mean, these guys can match anything and everything. Thanks, brother for the tip.
Can't wait to be able to use mine. Received delivery Sunday have it 98% assembled with one significant issue. The fan box doesn't fit into the lower hopper opening. Four days of multiple emails/photos/calls to customer service have not gotten it solved. They're asking for measurements, etc instead of sending parts that fit together. Kind of discouraging to walk past it everyday and not able to use it. Hopefully there's a quick solution.
@@thegalleryBBQ thanks! I got it together and started doing the burn off and the fan isn't working properly. So, I'm trying to deal with customer service, hopefully they get me a new part so I can get to using this grill!
@@thegalleryBBQ yeah everything is connected properly and the fan initially works to get it to temp, then doesn't kick back on if the temperature drops until I either reset the temperature or open/close or of the doors with a sensor. Their customer service reached out and gave me some steps to go through, I did their steps and the solution said they need to send me a new board. Now just waiting to hear back from them.
@@thegalleryBBQ I love it! Always appreciate watch enthusiasts. Keep pumping out the good videos. Just got the chargriller 980 and assembled this weekend. Need to burn-in and season and will do some cooks soon. You’re vid helped me in skipping steps while assembling. Thank you very much! Also joined your fb group recently.
@@Verwilderd AWESOME. check out this video. works the same with that 980. amazing stuff. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cbSSpEsqMB4.html
Great smoker. Just don't add wood to the ash pan or don't add too much. It will burn up the fan flap. I do layers in the hopper with charcoal and works great. Looking forward to your content on this grill.
I have had my 980 for almost a week and have done 2 cooks it is amazing! I have had no flaws and it held consistently at 225 for 8 hrs. I guess only downside is connection to Bluetooth and wifi.
Great unboxing and assembly video Tommy! Can’t wait to see your first cook. Molly was definitely supervising the assembly. Great video brother! Cheers!
Great job with showing the assembly of this awesome grill. I'm going to get me one day and I can't wait to see yours in action!! Hope you have a great weekend Tommy
Oh Tommy,,,, I'm into those Char Grillers,,,,, I've got 2 of them,. one a "dedicated" sidesmoker, the other is just a grill. Now they've got this,,,,,,,OH BOY!@! I may be getting one, I really like the "thickness" of the metal they use, some much better quality than some / Many of the others, of similar $$! Most "BANG" > for the Buck!
The only issue I had was the porcelain coating on one of the brackets on the manifold was a little thick and the heat shield doesn’t seat all the way down on one corner. Doesn’t affect the cooking and I’ve had no issues with anything else
I'm very excited now! I've been waiting on my absolute favorite channel to do a comparison on the Char-Griller and the masterbuilt to make my decision, And lo and behold you are finally doing it. Can't wait brother. Very anxious to get mine and I'm almost there.
Definitely looking forward to seeing your thoughts on this pit! Been contemplating buying one after seeing all the positives over some Masterbuilt shortcomings from other comparisons!
@@thegalleryBBQ hey Tommy, I’ve had mine for about a month. The only thing you need to worry about is the amount of wood in the ash tray. You don’t need much. Follow the directions and your flapper won’t burn 🔥
Wow Tommy, I'm "really" excited about this one,,, it's like the masterbuilt started this thing, and maybe Chargriller "one-upped" them? I hope so.... I'm really wanting to get one, wondering about that charcoal tower, if it's going to ROT OUT from the heat like the master built did, if you're going to have to make a sleeve, like you've made for the masterbuilt? Keep us all informed Tommy, THANKS From "ALL" of us man!
Check out Tom Horsman's video where he tested loading up the ash pan with wood to see if he could get the flap to burn. He got the temps right next to the flapper up to 550 F and the flapper did not burn. The key is not to overload the ash pan with wood (a single chunk), or better yet, mix wood in with the charcoal in the hopper. I mix my wood in the hopper, and the smoke is perfect.
