The actual war is mentioned in Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth where its mentioned how Guruji's arrows passed through 10 thousand soldiers in one attack like a thunderbolt and hence million weren't able to enter the fort. They tried to enter from all side but the 40 Singh's with Guru Gobind Singh Ji weren't some ordinary human beings. But the war was driven in a way of God's will. Guru Gobind Singh Ji knows the order(hukam) of God and Guruji showed how a common man can fight Dharam Judh and never give up for righteousness even though he has to sacrifice his/her life or even whole family. Guruji could have just vanished the whole army in a blink of an eye with his spiritual powers but that is against God's will. The battle made maximum damage to the Mughal army and they weren't able to capture or kill Guruji which was their main purpose. But it will be difficult to understand and digest the facts because one must attain some spiritual level before reading Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth. For example, many Sikhs aren't able to digest the instance of Vaisakhi, where the fives were actually beheaded and were reborn. In short, a normal human being will not understand what scientists (like Albert Einstein) had actually worked on and why. You have to deep dive into Physics and Mathematics so much that you finally discover something. I apologize if I'm wrong or if I have hurt anyone with my point of view.
