I find it so interesting how people think that character design is easy, just draw a pretty picture ... well at least good character design demands a good understanding of animation, human behavior, posture etc. all of this fun stuff ... Fantastic lesson, great job guys!
Thank you for the encouraging words, Andrea. You're right on. There's a big difference between a drawing of a character and a fully developed Character Design. So glad you liked the lesson.
Really wish this was longer! You put so much time and care into these, thanks a lot Chris! You are definitely one of the best art interviewers out there, not as "robotic" as others.. One can tell you care about what the other person is telling you. Keep it up! :)
Hi, Lale! Yeah, I agree. I think 22 minutes is the sweet spot when it comes to episode run time. I didn't prep the interview as well as I wish I had, so there was some redundancy that resulted in a shorter episode overall. That said, there's a lot of great insight packed into that little episode! James was amazing! And we're excited to have him back on the show again. There is a very informative deleted scene that didn't fit within the focus of the episode proper. You can download it at ChrisOatley.com/jwbonus/ And thank you for the encouragement! Elvis Mitchell and Oprah are my interviewer role models. They've inspired me literally for decades and I'm always trying to channel their skill, focus and passion when interviewing. I have a long way to go compared to them but I'm very happy to hear that my commitment to the development of a craft - vis a vis interviewing - is apparent. Thank you again!
Thanks so much for this interview ♥ I love this type of video, where you combine an objective lesson with casual but informative commentary. Nice job, keep it as well!
@@ChrisOatley hahaha really nice, I love your podcast, no I came from Beijing to Barcelona and currently looking for a job on the industry whatever you need I'm here to help!
